If you're interested, the hat you liked was made a few weeks back by Art Fawcett...

Than HatsRme,I checked out Mr. Fawcett's site nice stuff now to convince the powers that be(wife)that I need one!(haha)

Of COURSE you NEEeeeed one! How else might you survive the Lumby winters. And be forwarned... when she sees you wearing it, you'll need to apply a bit of "woman repellant." Better to ask forgiveness than permission, isn't it?!;)

When did JCP begin using the Penny's Towncraft label and who made these hats for them?

Was it during the time of Lee hats or after Lee was bought out?

Very nice Cav edge hat nice ribbon with frayed edge. It is worth what it is worth. Depends on how bad someone wants it. Posting it here will add a few more dollars to the final price for sure.:)Just checked and 62 people have it on the watch list so it will be going up in price 200.00 and up is possible especially in 7 1.2 size.

If I had the money, I'd pay $350 for it, if not more, since you can't buy a modern hat like a Cavanagh, even a'50s/'60s one.

Excuse my amateur naivite, but are the folding Boralinos that come in the long triangular box, vintage, and are they decent for a beater type hat?

Yup. They're total beater hats. Pure crap, on the same par as an XX wool blend hat by Eddy Bros. You wouldn't want one. Especially in a larger size! They get weaker and weaker the bigger size they are. PM me with the auction details, so I can buy it and dispose of it properly.

Interesting thought just occurred to me,minus a one off custom built or the holy grail of collectibles where do we draw the line?I say $300,anyone want to reply?

The line is more of a bell curve. How much would one pay for a suit, or a pair of shoes, or an automobile? Optimo has very fine panama hats at 2000 and very very fine panama hats at 10,000. and above. There are customers for all of them.

Myself, I only bid on holy grails. I just wish there weren't so many fakes. Some day I will find the real one. ;)

Basic fur felt. I wouldup to 200 for vintage whippet. Even though the prices of a whippet have skyrocketed. Brand new I just stick to 100 dollar Akubra great hats for what they are
