Could be, I couldn't tell much from the first photo. The one that is more completely shown, looks like a Borsalino. No doubt there are stores in Brazil that carry them, maybe have websites for you. Good luck tracking down a similar hat.

Ok, I'm dying. I ordered a new hat Wednesday from Selentino, and I can't stop checking my email for a confirmation that the hat shipped. I'm worse than a kid waiting for his birthday! You'd think, me being in my late 30s, I might have developed coping mechanisms by now. Anyone have strategies to help alleviate the stress of waiting?

This'll be my third--I have a black Royal Stetson fedora and a tawny Royal Stetson Worthington. I think I might also need to bridge into caps for casual Fridays. I'm beginning to see how this could become addictive!

Cheers,
Bitz

...

Read threads on dating Stetsons by liner, size tag, etc. & whether a hat that looks like an Open Road is actually an Open Road if it doesn't have it stamped on the sweatband....
But whatever you do, don't wander off to the threads about leather jackets cause that will start another addiction too soon after this hat one you are just getting underway.... ;)

I picked up this beautiful Open Road clone in Vermont last summer. Obviously well cared for, it has been reconditioned with a new liner and sweatband somewhere along the way. Can any of you in the Fedora Lounge brain trust tell the original manufacturer from the reorder tag here? BTW, the color is an unusual ecru, or camel, if that helps. Thanks to all!

You seem to have an address issue with your photos on photobucket. The IMG link will be img.photobucket.com/albums under your username. Not sure what you are picking up for your post. Do a reply with quote as see the string for photo below. HTH

These being the first photos I've posted, I feel some sense of accomplishment, despite the difficulties. I used to think I wasn't completely stupid. I don't know why the IMG designations show up. Thanks for the help and attention!

I apologize for asking this in advance, but it seems that most everyone here is strictly into vintage or should I say collectible items and really don't want much to do with modern acquisition or modern styles,is this just a misconception on my part? I know the site says Fedora Lounge and it's got some great stuff but I'm sure they still make some pretty decent hats ,clothes whatever nowadays also.

The entire site is about the Golden Era which pretty much puts things into vintage category. This is just the Hat thread which tends to be patronized by folks who like hats of the styles of that bygone time. Do some more reading of all the threads in the Lounge. Hats is just the one closest to the Lounge's name....

Thanks for the info,I find it strange that it doesn't seem to say that anywhere or at least I haven't noticed.

Hats and parenting

My 12 yr old daughter just informed me that some of her friends believe I'm "weird because I'm short and wear geeky hats," and "all the rest of the dads in Sioux Falls are rich and athletic." Yes, that is a quote. :eusa_doh:

Do I care? No. But I also don't want to put her in an uncomfortable social situation with her peers, which I guess means I do care a little. It's awkward enough at her age. Do I really have to deal with this again after my own middle school experience, being into "music" instead of "football?" It kind of caught me off guard and I didn't know exactly how to address this with her. [huh]

Do any of you parents have suggestions? shakeshead :noidea::help:

My two cents: she's right. The sad fact is kids judge each other by who their parents are. Fitting in is important for teenagers, and the more *your* eccentricities impede *her* social life, the more she'll resent you for it. You can't help not being as rich or tall or fit as the other dads, but you can keep the 'geeky hats' on the DL and out of the public light for a few years, at least until she's out of the house.

Have you spoken with her about this issue? If her maturity and your relationship with your daughter will allow a constructive conversation, that is where I would start.

Wear your hats... the kids will come around.
I have worn a fedora for as long as my daughter can remember. She is 24 now and will be getting married next year. She has ask if Mike Moore can make me a special hat to wear at her wedding. And would you know it....he said he could!!!!
I also got myself an ear ring when I turned 40.... my children nor none of their friends had a second thought about it and I am here in the deep South.
So I understand your concern but just wear your hats....and be yourself.
