[Hat and Rehat]

On vintage hats I’ve seen long oval, extra long oval, wide oval, but I’ve yet to see a perfect circle or round. I don’t doubt that you’ve seen them, but I don’t think they are common.

I've seen hats with the designations you give, but have never held a block so designated in my hands.
I've held a round one. I could probably bowl with it if I could better control my wrist.

That said, I probably did go a little far putting round blocks in the same 'common' category as regular and long oval. I'll blame it on my reliance upon Scientific Hat Finishing and Renovating, my first source for hat making data, followed closely by the Fedora Lounge and my own growing experience.

I ordered an Akubra Woomera last Friday and got confirmation today that it's officially on its way. I've never ordered anything from an overseas provider so my question is this: Will the shipping get it to my door or just into the U.S. POE? If it only gets the hat to the U.S. what do I need to do to get it to Texas?

Thanks, Bob. That makes me feel a lot better. Where in the Ozarks are you? I'm originally from Missouri and have family all over southern Missouri (Taney Co.).

LOL. Who did you order from, EA, or Hats Direct? I've only ordered from EA, but was able to track through Australian Post, Customs, then USPS to my door.

I ordered from Hats by the Hundred. Someone on here gave me another link and they were about $15 cheaper but I'm still waiting for them to reply on shipping. When I tried to order the hat, it said "No Shipping Available To Your Address." They were also 4 months on delivery and HBTH had the "sand" color in stock in my size.

EDIT: The first one was Everything Australian. They received by email at 1:00 p.m. their time and when I hadn't heard anything 24 hours later, I went to HBTH.

I remember the Cabool exit (60?) that I'd take heading down to float the North Fork of the White River that we floated every year for 17 years. Great times, beautiful country, amazing fishing and hunting and good people.

My folks have a place on Bull Shoals so I've been through Forsyth and Kissee Mills many times. I used to work in Branson back around 1979 at Mutton Hollow. Our place is on Hungry Creek just a mile or so from where it feeds into the North Fork. The Mark Twain National Forest on three sides and a 2000 acre private game preserve on the other. Paradise...

I've spent many days on the North Fork and Bryant Creek fishing for trout and smallmouth in early spring before the hoards of people arrive. Truly a beautiful and peaceful part of the Ozarks. I had an uncle that had the post office in Kissee Mills for many years.

Hi. I'm new to posting on FL and forums in general so, apologies if my etiquette is not correct. I thoroughly enjoy reading the wealth of knowledge that this forum collectively has and wanted to tell you a bit about my work as a hatter here in the UK. I am both a maker and a researcher of early felt hat making techniques used prior to mechanisation. I produce authentic hand-felted hats for museums using tools reconstructed from those used 500 years ago, such as the bow-carder. I work mostly in wool, but am also able to work in rabbit and beaver. I am primarily self taught, although my methods are largely based on those I learnt from Mihalko Gyula, the last traditional felt hat maker in Hungary. I am currently conducting a worldwide study to try and find any felt hat maker that use these historical techniques. To my knowledge there are none left in Europe, but I am planning a trip to Mexico next year to document the work of one I have found there.
