Anyone know of must-visit hat shops, vintage consignment stores, etc. in or near Madison, WI? I'm headed there for an interview next week.

Scott, aka @bond in the Lounge, and owner of finevintagefedoras on Etsy, lives near Milwaukee.
I met him there a couple of months ago, and he sold me two magnificent Optimos at a good price.

Greeting fellow loungers, been a while.

Anyway I was wondering if anybody can comment on the below hat (only pics and info I have) and provide any info or insights. Thanks in advance.

Texture, width, and logo impression point to one from the mid to late 60's......they did some of those ribbon styles then too....I think I even have one listed just like it in my one of my catalog postings....

Hi, I am wondering about size and fit. I wear a 7 1/8 - 7 1/4. As you know some vintage 7 1/4 shrink and 7 1/8 can be stretched I somewhere in between. There is a hat on ebay that measures ~ 7 5/8 inches in length of interior band. Does anyone know what size that is, and can it be stretched to fit my head? Thanks in advance.

That would be a big stretch. You and I are the same size. Normally my hats are ~8" x ~6 1/4".

Hey Bill, thanks for the quick response. There is an awesome hat on ebay and the seller does not know anything about it. I think it may be either a 7 or 7 1/8 judging by the measurements that they gave. Am so tempted to get it so cheaply and try to stretch it. Dont want to ruin the leather band if I overstretch but it is such an opportunity!

If it is a really good deal I usually take the chance. But it has to be a REALLY GOOD deal. If it doesn't work out I list it in the Fedora Lounge classifieds and move it on. That's the reason it has to be a good deal - so I'm not out anything. It also lets my wife see me selling hats and therefore reducing my overall count. It's a fantastic thing for her to see me selling hats even though it is only because it doesn't fit. That's the silver lining thing you hear people talk about.

I think it's a size 7 based on the measurements and the (L + W)/2 calculation. Have you stretched a hat from 7 to 71/8- 7 1/4 before with any luck?
