Art -- hope the surgery is a success and you're back in the shop real soon!! BTW, just rec'd a care package from you. Imagine my wife's surprise when I pulled out my newest work of Art. "Another fedora?", says she, asking the obvious. Whiskey was the correct pick, Art.
Get well soon. --- Pierce

Art, I had the same surgery a few years back and, man, I sympathize. I think this is one situation where we can make a suggestion to you, and I think Gunship has it: whiskey!

I'm placing an order now, Art! We'll keep your pipeline filled awaiting your triumphant return in a few weeks!!

In the words of Covey, "It's important to stop and sharpen your saw." You'll be renewed and sharp as ever!!

Thank you very much everyone for the wishes and suggestions. I won't be out a day longer than needed and expect to be "brand new" in a few weeks. Thanks Pierce, I'm thinking "Crown Black" is in my future. In the mean time David will be holding down the fort and I'm certain will tire of me hovering pretty rapidly. Kev, I'll call you later. Cheers everyone

Art, I hope you get well soon.

My father will undergo surgery for the same thing with some ruptured tendons as bonus next month...

Please make sure to follow the physiotherapy instructions to the T, it's the key to full recovery!

Good luck with the surgery and recuperation Art!

After years of heavy weight-lifting I may be faced with shoulder surgery someday as well. (As of now, lots of pre- and post-workout stretching along with several warm-up sets and aspirin before bed has fended it off.)

Gromulus, in case the doc failed to mention, if your tear(s) are full diameter of the tendon(s) they can, over time, retract to where they can't be accessed/used. Eventually, that scenario will require a replacement, instead of repair. Stay vigilant, my friend! I found this out, literally, by accident, and just in the nick of time. It required six titanium screws and three hours of work to hold my tendon back where it was supposed to be. But that's nothing for tough guys (or gals) like our surgeons!

Thanks for the "heads-up". I am a lot more careful now that I am an "old man" of 57. Hope to avoid any and all surgeries if I can!

Mine was done two years ago, at 58 yrs of age. For men, 62 is the magic number after which the healing slows down dramatically, according to my doc. Shoulders and knees are sometimes better done sooner than later. The tears don't heal, and I hate surgery!!! Best of luck!

Hope you recover soon, Art. The new hat arrived and I just love it! Since this was an adapted version of your Round Midnight, I will call mine 'Round About Midnight, after the Miles Davis record. Also, since I never asked when you made it, what was the color name of the main, dark ribbon? Anyways, I can't wait to take this out for the night around town!
