I aint complaining. It would seem to me that given what's already on offer some trimmer patterns are the order of the day. Exciting times!

Schitz, in your case, you can plan a day trip to Galashiels to try on a stock jacket in the style you want, and then simply add centimeters to body and sleeves to achieve a perfect fit; thus no risk of disappointment when you open the box a few weeks (or months) later.

Yep that's the plan. I got myself in the queue earlier this month and hopefully my turn will roll round again by August. At which point, since I'll be in Edinburgh then, I can pop over to galashiels and make a choice.

Incidentally, I found out earlier today that my last order has been made up and is awaiting despatch.. :D It's a brown Hercules

Schitz, congratulations and look forward to pictures and impressions of your new Hercules. What body/sleeve measurements did you request?

Excellent stuff! And I do think you're right about the competition stuff too, but it's good to see a positive response though: more and better designs rather than just ploughing on regardless.

I don't think I'll get my hands on it till the back end of this week.. and there may be a slight delay with the photos this time as I'm experiencing some memory stick difficulties.. But fear not, those will be conquered as I wouldn't dream of telling you about a jacket and then not showing you the pictures. I just couldn't do that to you Fanch! I asked for 27.25" sleeves and 29.25" body length

Aero are rolling out a stack of new designs in April, so that may help you or possibly make your choice even harder. ;)

If you type 'new' into the search window on the Aero site some interesting names/jackets come up but the links dont work yet? Including - Luftwaffe, Indiana hmmm.

Luftwaffe was certainly an old Will design which was discontinued on his departure, and I suspect the Indiana was the same - can someone verify that? So I think they're just loose ends on the website rather than a sign of things to come. :)

I don't recall Aero having a Luftwaffe. Well, apart from the Fliegerjacke branded ones they sold as an agent, but didn't manufacture. Could be that? The Indiana could be either one of the MC jackets (rings a bell, might have been the repro of one of the Perfectoalikes from back in the day, mix of brass and chrome hardware..?), or maybe the Indy jacket that I think Will experimented with briefly, but Ken chose not to have in the line-up for IP reasons?

I think you're right, Edward. I just recall speaking to Will about it, and him telling me that it was a beast of a jacket, far too heavy for UK climate, and that he didn't produce it himself out of respect for his father who fought in WWII. I couldn't quite get my head around how the second part of that sentence worked. Didn't the Indy appear for a very limited period last year?

I can sort of see the marketing problem with what many would see as a "Nazi" jacket, though it seems odd to not do it yourself becuase of some perceived moral issue, then sell them from other people anyhow. Bit like objecting to guns but selling bullets.... but hey ho. I'd like to have seen one of them in person. I would love a black jacket to be worn in the same sort of conditions as my Irvin or the B3, which was my primary interest in one of those. If I ever have the money, though, I suppose I'm more likely now to end up with one of Aero's civilian models lined in shearling (liking the idea of a HWM like that, though the Barnstormer is better for length in cold. Wouldn't expect to get a lot of wear out of one of the latter with shearling, but wool blanket, maybe....).

I don't know if it was ever regular line-up; they did have two or three on the sale page, though. Maybe it did appear in the general site too. They were all FQHH, as memory serves. Don't know how many Aero regulars would have gone for it (as opposed to, say, a Halfbelt), but I imagine the cosplayers in the hardcore Indy crowd wouldn't have cared for it, as the hide wasn't screen accurate (i.e. the lambskin, which has a very different drape), and also it was a significant upcharge against the everal other options already on the market. (Aside from the legal niceties of who owns the design, etc).

I agree, it does seem a subtle differentiation, but it was a great looking jacket, especially with the white fleece interior. I'm interested in seeing what Aero's late WWII colour combo is going to be. I know in addition to the standard russet & honey, Ken's offering it in seal with a contrasting collar, but I don't know colour what it is.
I have to say, I'm one of those who always thought Indiana's jacket looked best on him.
