will show you the true meaning of the term "Texas hospitality.":)

Fanch, definitely will do thanks. She deals with Dallas every day, so here's hoping.

Apologies to Schitzo for the hijack. Back on topic, I quite like the look of the Short Teamster, although I think it needs a fourth button. That would have a narrow front, but with the nice V-shaped back, so it might work for Schitzo.

Not at all WDW. In fact Peacoat's post has made me think again.. and having just checked on google maps I've decided that if for any reason I'm not in Edinburgh come August time, as is the plan now, I'll take on the drive. Apparently from where I am it should take just 5 hours 28 minutes!

Schitzo, to be honest, when you see the hassle and expense that some of the US guys have if they have a problem with Aero, if I was you I'd be very tempted to take the chance to go up there, have a good look around and get your order and measurements absolutely right. It's probably cheaper to fly or train than drive though, the way petrol's going.

There's nothing worse than being disappointed when you open the Aero box, as happened to me three times last year in 2012BC (before Calder:)), then having the hassle of expense and more time to sort it out.

wdw, I completely agree with what you say regarding the need for an additional button. Although the entry states: "This was a pattern test jacket, as we'll be putting the buttons higher," I think that for proper balance, there might be a need for four buttons, not including the button or latch at the throat. Compare the Aero 'short teamster' and the stewart (stuart) which I believe will illustrate the point you are trying to make.

Absolutely right Fanch. I'm not struck on the open chest pocket on the Stuart, but the 4 button look is definitely preferable to me. My standard Teamster has a relatively narrow front, which is why I think it might meet Schitzo's requirements on a shorter version. That could be very tempting.

I was thinking the same thing. IMO the breast pocket on the Stuart ruins an otherwise very clean appearance, and a 'short teamster' with a back length of 26.5" for me and 25.5" for you could create a fine jacket.

I've got a feeling that the Trail Rider is also a very trim fit.

Schizo, if you want to visit Galashiels then take the train from London to Carlisle (3 1/4 hours), then the X95 bus out there (about another 2 hours). You could do it in a day at a push, and the cost would be around £100, cheaper if you book the train ahead.

Don't you just love those Google maps time estimates?

It just divides distance by an average speed plucked out of thin air and makes no allowance for the kind of roads or traffic. Where I live now I'm deep in the country with windy mountain roads between me and most places. But Google maps still tells me I can do a hundred miles along those roads in the same time as the same distance on a motorway.

Graeme, I'm not sure that one is still available but even if it is I don't like it anyway! As long as it doesn't involve any 'sailing' I'd probably prefer to drive there simply because that way I'm reliant on myself only. But thanks for the info.

Am thinking a route 66 without the breast pocket and those sleeves (i.e. basically a cossack front) might make for a good trimmer fitting FQHH jacket, as presumably the bi-swing back would add a bit of extra comfort and manoeuvrability

That puts things into a bit of perspective. I knew Texas was big, but it sounds like the whole UK would fit into it.

For me it's 39 miles and 50 minutes to Aero, which can be handy. Having said that, I'm really jealous when I see some of the great locations people live in on the board.

Off topic - but this reminds me of a British guy I used to work with in Oklahoma. He had 9 days off and said he was going to drive to St. Louis. I mentioned that sounded like a good days off. He then said he wanted to head over to Boston, MA then New York, NY and maybe Miami, FL then drive back. I guess he thought it'd be like vacationing around the UK. Here's some perspective.

OKC, OK - St. Louis is 500 miles
St. Louis - Boston, MA is 1200 miles
Boston, MA - New York, NY is 220 miles
New York, NY - Miami, FL is 1300 miles
Miami, FL to OKC, OK is 1500 miles
9 days - 4700 miles!!! He ended driving to Dallas (200 miles)

I'm jealous of the people who live close to better manufacturers too. Denver, CO to any other city in the US is >500 miles. I'm hoping to get to Portland to visit Insurrection and Langlitz. Thanks to the people on this board I know about Self Edge in LA and plan on visiting there and plan on stopping by G&B when I'm in San Diego for a conference this fall. Cheers all

There are some great places scattered along the Pacific Ocean: Insurrection (Seattle), Langlitz (Portland), Johnson (San Francisco), Self Edge (LA), and G&B (San Diego) to name only a few. Speaking of distance, it is 1250 miles from Seattle to San Diego.:D

Has anyone else noticed the 'Aero Hercules coming soon' statement on the Thurston sites and on that note a search on the Aero Leather site for 1920s brings up links to two jackets the 1920s Halfbelt and Hercules but the links take you to the Home page - could there be a slimmer fitting 1920's Hercules on the cutting board? Of course this may be old news/speculation to some of you or I may have got it wrong and Thurston Bros are merely awaiting delivery of the usual Hercules jackets before posting pictures.

Possibly, my understanding is that the number of new designs coming for spring will run into double-digits, so it could among them.

Double digits eh this should be very interesting. I wonder might this be a riposte to the opposition who appear to now be offering trimmer versions of 'aero patterns'

Well, we all hammer on about wanting greater variety, so we're getting what we wish for. *readies credit card, closes eyes*
