are there any trim aero jackets besides the 30s halfbelt?

Now is not a good time for Holly to indulge this type of thing. But I figure you losers have plenty of time. So here goes.

I'm wondering if any of the shorter models, besides the 30s halfbelt are slim fitting. I know that the highwayman and 50s halfbelt certainly are not.

But what about the Cossack, Route 66, Pioneer, HG5 and Stuart? Or is a Cafe Racer the only other option? I should add, I don't like the look of the Bootlegger or anything with knits

I'm sure many of these could be made slim fitting if you asked.

As an example, the Route 66 has bi-swing just behind the sleeves, so the chest of the jacket could be tailored quite closely to the body without losing flexibility:D

well, I mean I know that anything can be slimmer if I size down. But I wouldn't want to go down that route as I've found armholes problematic in the past.

I forgot to add the type 3 jean jacket to the list above. The NYPD can be forgotten about

I know what you mean, but when I go up to Galasheils, I see lots of different fittings in the same jacket, so, "stock sizes" apart, I reckon alot are made to fit, in a customer-specific way, rather than a size-specific way, if you get my drift. So it's not really "sizing down". I too, prefer close fitting jackets.

Obviously, not everyone can get up there to get such a personalised fitting, but if you can, then I'm sure a narrower fitting with armholes to suit you would be perfectly achievable.:D

I don't think the Stuart is offered any longer. The Cossack is virtually identical to the 30's HB. As far as I can determine, the Cafe Racer is the only other option for a slimmer fit. I'm not sure how Aero's jean jacket fits and have seen no one post for that one. The 40's might be close, and it is my understanding that Aero will make a 40's in hides other than kudu. All we can do is speculate and wish that more information were available on Aero's website.

Well, I forgot, lucky souls such as major, sloan, wdw, etc. who are able to visit Galasheils and actually try on stuff there. My only experience with a 30's slimfit was when I was in Seattle last year and was able to try on a 42L 30's slimfit at Insurrection and could barely get it zipped!:D

That would be very cool.

I had an original Type 3 cowhide back in the 60's.

That was one close-fitting jacket. In fact, to be period correct, any Jean Jacket should unlined, like that one was.

A Jean Jacket with a lining is, to me, a little heavy.

I would love to persuade Ken to make me an unlined one.

Incidentally, Aero made a batch of jackets based on the Lee 101J a few years ago.

That would be my first choice if Ken would make some more:D

At the time I was there, Insurrection had far fewer Aero jackets in stock than they do now, including the Stuart. I really like the overall design of the Stuart and its use of buttons rather than zippers. I think that Aero might be offering a short Teamster at a later time but doubt that it will be a slim fit. It's only a 6 hour drive from London to Aero. In my state, we can't drive from one end of the state to the other in 6 hours. In Fanch's Great State of Texas, it is about 10 hours to drive from one end to the other. And that is with no traffic and no weather. So I would make a six hour trip and think nothing of it. Especially to get a perfect fit for one of the best made jackets in the world.

Living in the UK does have its advantages. It's a great country.

Aero are rolling out a stack of new designs in April, so that may help you or possibly make your choice even harder. ;)

In Fanch's Great State of Texas, it is about 10 hours to drive from one end to the other. And that is with no traffic and no weather. So I would make a six hour trip and think nothing of it. Especially to get a perfect fit for one of the best made jackets in the world.

Living in the UK does have its advantages. It's a great country.

Over 800 miles from Texarkana, Texas to El Paso (E to W).
Almost 900 miles from Stratford, Texas to Brownsville (N to S)

4500 miles from Dallas, Texas to Glascow, Scotland.

Only 350 miles from London to Galashiels (S to N) :D

For me it's 39 miles and 50 minutes to Aero, which can be handy. Having said that, I'm really jealous when I see some of the great locations people live in on the board.

You'd be lucky to do it in anything like 6 hours unless you did it at night. The motorways are very congested at the best of times and you could get stuck in a two hour tailback at the worst.

wdw, it's got to be great being you, less than 40 miles from Meca.:D My daily commute from my home to work every day is 35 miles and 50 minutes each way. :eek:hwell:

Fanch, I just edited my post. It's handy being close to Aero, but it's not like I need to go often. There are so many great places that people here live in, particularly in the US, that I'd happily trade proximity to a good leather factory for the chance of living somewhere like that.

Funnily enough, my daughter said today that a transfer to Dallas maybe next year was a realistic possibility depending on how her career progresses. Maybe then I'd get to experience the Great State for myself.

Last time I drove to gala, it was torrential rain, which is lethal once you get into the borders with their endless, twisting roads. Was more akin to sailing at times. It always seems further away than I remember it :)
