Another amazing feat unearthed.

It never fails to amaze me th imagination people show in the face of such brutality.

I hope this unique record will become required reading and viewing,.

Joe Kubert, the great US Comic book artist, did a great Graphic Novel a few years back on the Warsaw Ghetto... telling the heartbraeking story from the view of young Yossel, a young jewish boy who wants to draw.

I remember when this came out. Like the GN Auschwitz before it, and, to a certain extent, Maus, it garnered quite a few complaints from various customers who felt that writing about The Holocaust in "comics" was a trivialization. I couldn't disagree more.

Me too! Mr Kubert is a very sensitive artist and storyteller. His family that remained in Europe were exterminated. The GN deals with a character that WOULD've been him, if his Parents hadn't emigrated.

I think it's a great resource, and any and every medium should be used to explain history!

:) Ruf... scribbling comic books...

Plus anything that gets people to actually sit down and read anymore is a good thing--I saw an editorial in one of the old trade-magazines around the comic/game-shop I "intern" at once where the editor mentioned seeing a kid want a book and the parent responded "No, you don't need it--you have enough Nintendo games to keep you busy."

+1 on multimedia-education as well--I've got some off-the-wall ideas of my own for if and when I score that history-professorship...

Pleased to hear it Prof.-to-be!

My ambition is to do a comic series on the International Brigade. I'd also like to do a series on evryday people surviving WW2... I've met some amazing people with stories of everyday heroism, stoicism and ingenuity, and I'd hate these tales to evaporate from our collective conscious.

I love talking to people and collecting there stories.
