Alterations on Lost Worlds J23 by Alan at Johnson Leathers

I have had my Lost Worlds J23 since February and while it was breaking in nicely, I started to notice that the chest was a bit baggy on me. Also I didn't like that when I zipped the cuffs they were fairly loose. I found the quilt lining too warm as well.

I contacted Alan at Johnson Leathers. Alan swapped out the quilt lining for a very nice sateen, he took almost two inches out of the chest, about 3/4 inch out of the cuff, and added a snap at the bottom of the jacket to protect the zipper.

Just got the jacket back. It turned out amazing! If you need alterations done, you can trust Alan. Alan was very professional, took the time to listen to my dislikes, and perfectly addressed them for a fair price. Total time including shipping was about 3.5 weeks turn around. Excellent!

The beauty of Alan and JL is that they are maker agnostic with regard to repairs and alterations. I feel like Alan loves a challenge and isn't concerned about altering other makers patterns. He and his crew do it with surgical precision. Well done!

Indeed. I'm not sure of anyone else who does this. As Ton said, most only work on their own and some offer no alterations.

I just dropped my vintage Taubers cafe racer over there for a new lining, and some patching up. I think I might have spotted your LW when I was there...You're in good hands with Alan!

BTW- I thought he no longer could get the famous Horween overdyed black...but he showed me a couple of hides when I was there. And instead of cow, this time it was in horsehide. Super heavy stuff.

A post I wish I'd never seen. I could see a JL 2.0. I want the xtra heavy armor plate. Maybe after the 50's HB is done. Man this place WILL pull you in a thousand different directions.

I have said it before, but this is a good thread to repeat it. I recently sent my Aero Thunder Bay to Alan for a zipper replacement. The original puny #5 Hookless broke a tooth after two years of occasional wear. I say occasional wear because the zip was such a problem that I seldom wore it. Having done business with Alan in the past, I knew I could trust him to do it right. He put in a robust #10 Talon that works like a charm.

Next winter the TB will get a lot of wear on those days when the temp is below 35 F. He (his seamstress) was able to use the original stitch holes, and I can't even tell it is a replacement. Thanks, Alan.
