Alright now Ya'll have done it!!

After seeing all the beutiful dresses and such being made by the talented ladies in the Powder room and my mom giving me my first sewing machine, I'm going to start sewing. The first pattern (not vintage) will be Pj's for my daughter. Are there any pointers/advice that would be good for sewing in general? I would like hopfully make a 40's style dress. I am pretty handing working with my hands. Thank you all for inspiring a new comer. I'm very excited.

Thanks, Lady Day, for posting that thread. I'm sure some of the new gals will appreciate the info there. New sewers, don't be afraid to post any sewing questions because we were all beginning sewers once. We do have some experienced sewers here and I've learned quite a bit, even though I'm more of an intermediate sewer. And Lady Day can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! So if you're looking for inspiration, she's the one to ask!

I'm so glad that sewing is being picked up by you younger gals. I was afraid it was becoming a lost art!
