[Fading Fast]

Stuck in this past week/weekend, we binge watched "Good Girls."

Pretty good updated variation on "Weeds" where three middle class women in Michigan turn (slowly) to crime to support their families. The acting is outstanding, the stories are good (not particularly believable, but you just go with it) and the politics are sometimes PC obnoxious but not over-the-top for TV today.

Two-reel comedy shorts. Working my way now thru the collected works of Charley Chase, and next up is Thelma Todd and Zasu Pitts. Also awaiting, a hodgepodge of Vitaphone one-reelers from 1928-29, committing a couple of dozen obscure vaudeville acts to film immortality. Edison and Gregory "The Two College Nuts!" Molly Picon, The Celebrated Character Comedienne! Zelda Stanley -- Little Miss Everybody! Carolina Seguera, The Cuban Nightingale! Herschel Henlere, The Madcap Musician! And much much more!

I binged "The Boys" on Amazon Prime Video in about a day. Now I'm on to "Hunters", on the same streaming service.

Altered Carbon on Netflix and American Gods on Amazon so far. Next in line is Mad Men. Our theatre trip to see the stage version of cabaret was cancelled so I bought the dvd on eBay (it’s not available to stream except for a grainy version on YouTube. I dug out the old DVD player and had to buy a new scart to scart cable- it was the first time Liz had seen Cabaret and she loved it. We have lots more DVD’s in storage in the garage waiting in turn.

Just binge watched Pride and Prejudice, the 1995 version with the delightful Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Man, that dance sequence, with them sparing, is just great.

Not had a chance to binge yet... My work has simply transferred to home-based, and I'm actually busier than I normally would be - doing a lecture online takes twice the time once you count setting up the software (which took all morning for the latest package today, as I am cursed with a "managed" laptop that means I can do nothing with it - not even so much as download my home printer driver - without a techie with admin clearance doing it for me).

Do still see the stage-show if and when you can - it's surprisingly different in many respects (in particular, if the touring production is still the revival production form the West End in 2006/7!). Also, if you like that, it's worth trying to see if you can track down a BBC film from a few years back called Christopher and his kind - it's based on Isherwood's autobiography and it covers all the real people on which Cabaret /Goodbye Sally Bowles/ Berlin Diaries were based. Turns out the Cabaret (more so in the film than the original Kanter & Webb musical) story is actually surprisingly close to the truth.

Not exactly binge watching BUT I do have multiple episodes of The First 48 taped. It is my weird guilty pleasure. I cannot get over why any accused would talk to the cops in the sweat box....guilty or innocent first thing you do is lawyer up dammit.....don't those perps watch TV cop shows for pete's sake????

Streaming is fun in small amounts, but I don't normally watch tv.
The family has been making me watch all of: The Mandolorian and Wu-Tang Clan.
King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Adventure Time, Atlanta and Regular Show are ongoing still...when they can force me to watch tv.

I subscribed to Mubi, it's this arthouse streaming channel, they put up a new movie everyday and each lasts a month, so you have 30 days of films to watch. They have a Melville series on it at the moment, I like Melville's gangster movies and his 'Army of Shadows' about the French resistance during WW2 is one of my favourite films. Arthouse movies seem to have more meat on the bones so to speak, but in saying I rewatched 'Grease' yesterday and enjoyed it.
I just missed some Godard films with Anna Karina, sheesh.

We started Bates Motel again, but then found Dead Files. Right up our alley and I don't know how we missed 12 SEASONS.

Mad Men (I had never seen it), The Last Kingdom (to prepare for the new season which drops today), Hornblower, and Vikings.

Fauda and now the latest Ricky Gervais then onto The Last Kingdom and The English Game. If this virus crap keeps up we may have to succumb and start Mad Men....that should keep us going for a while.

Not really a binge watcher but I have been enjoying the two episodes a week of Life on Mars and now Ashes to Ashes. The proper British version of course!

Not weird at all. The wife and I love The First 48 and especially Forensic Files. We're always asking the same questions about why people talk when in the box. I've concluded society is much better off that they do!

We binged our way through Zerozerozero. I DVR’d the Lone Wolf and Cub films from TCM. I’ll be working my way through those next.

Not quite binge watching, but I've been watching two episodes a day of Leave it to Beaver on ME-TV every morning with my coffee. They started season one just around the time quarantine kicked in, so I'm watching them all in order.

I know its corny, but I still love that show.
