He looks better in a white polyester suit with a red shirt. His off camera style has been gravely disappointing over the years including the dye job on his head.

He looks pretty good there - dressed for a movie - and it was the 1970's... I have never been crazy about Travolta's various wigs. He's been mostly bald for 20 plus years.

The M65 is truly an iconic jacket. You can wear it so many different ways. Personally I like this look in the picture. To me I like to play it off as a country " field jacket " inspired by my adoration for UK shooting clothes (ie Cording UK). These guys look great in it IMO. Love the rough but glamorous style it gives off. Coupled with the right sunglasses fitted jeans and wingtips would be a sweet look.

Not to sway the thread, but since celebrities...I remember seeing Sarah Silverman on a late-night talk show in combat boots. It looked like she had on a pair of Corcoran 1500s. She was on the talk circuit for something, so I also then ran into her on a podcast I frequent. She was asked something like, "What's the most amount of money you've spent on something recently?" "These combat boots last year. They were $700 or whatever." So I HAD TO do some research after hearing that price tag. They were Prada, or another high-end fashion maker. I can't remember now, but it did make me wonder if an assistant bought them for her. You know...what is the acquisition process for celebrity.

Photos show that the US Army wore these jackets with the collar folded down so it's funny to me that civilians always wear the collars up!

I'm not sure. I believe I've seen some photos in the work footwear thread, but I wouldn't swear to that.

My M-65s all want to stay up. The older ones that have had time to soften are much more compliant.

Not to say she overpaid for name brand, but she definitely overpaid for name brand.

I think it's a fashion thing. I've seen a lot of people wearing coats with the collars up lately, especially wool coats.

With the built in hood, they are stiff enough to want to stay up. It takes some work to make them fold down. I think we wore them folded down, but that is so long ago, I can't really remember.

I just checked mine from 1966, and it is folded down. So, that's the way I wore it then (what little I wore it), and how I wear it now. After 54 years, it's nice and soft and wants to stay down.
