Allen Edmonds Sturgis boot sizing question

I am looking to pick up a pair of Allen Edmonds Sturgis boots . I wear an 11 EEE but they are only available in d width. Should I go up to a 11 1/2 or 12 to get the width that I need?

I spoke with a man at the Michigan Avenue store in Chicago and I was told that I should go with an 11 1/2. I'm going to order them tomorrow.
