It looks like you hang your jacket unzipped. That would cause the sag in the shoulder toward the chest, not the waist.

It’s the same issues with button-front shirts. Always hang your jackets/shirts zipped up or buttoned up.

I think he's referring to the direction in which the chest pocket zipper closes, which is outwards unlike most vintage (and repro) halfbelts.

Was referring to the pull tab but definitely noted, am usually terrible at zipping my jackets on the hanger…

I know most blazers/suit jackets are better left unbuttoned, but I have found that with my leather jackets some hang better zipped/buttoned others hang better undone

It is a matter of personal preference. I’m just grabbing a random pic and a pic of the above poster to illustrate this point further. If you notice, both wearers wear their jackets unzipped. However, the above poster has the jacket flared outward toward the waist (this is the effect of the unzipped jacket on the hanger), whereas the other person has the jacket flared outward toward the shoulder (this is the effect of the zipped jacket on the hanger). I don’t think the unzipped jacket’s effect is a good look because the zipped jacket’s effect drapes better—more like a V shape of a shoulder-to-waist drop.

Not sure where you got that idea from, but I hang all of my blazers and suit jackets buttoned for the exact same reason above.

Very interesting. Thanks for the explanation and images; it really helped me to visualize what you’re describing. I prefer the flare out to the shoulder so I guess I’ll go back to zipping them. I actually enjoy the act of zipping them when I hang them up. It’s sort of like the enjoyment I get from winding a manual wind watch. That extra bonding time is a welcome respite from a busy day.
