Yep. Shackleton managed to save all his men, and made an epic voyage to South Georgia in an open boat to get help. Very much underrated compared to the failed and flawed hero Scott.

How big is the AL workshop compared to Aero's emporium ?

I've got some magazine pics of original Simmons Bilts. I'll post them up next week. The late 20's and 30's ones are normally brown aniline goatskin.

AL's is is a big open space affair, with an office (or two attached) at the sides. So basically inside you can see everything - the workers, the hides, a seating area and loads of jackets hanging on rails. All in all it might have been bigger than aeros emporium, but if it is then probably not by a great deal

Feel free to dig out your pics hpa!

Totally different

While at first glance these two jackets look similar, they are actually very different. Nothing hasty about the AlexL Design. I will go through my Archives, I have some originals from the 30's & 40's and see if I can find some examples and get some pics posted. So far everything I have seen and tested is a step above with AlexL , I have jackets from both.

Aside from the high-cut armholes, what else was very similar to the Thirties Halfbelt about it? Curious because it's one I'm really looking at as a next jacket (likely in about a year's time). Is it as neat on the waist as the Thirties? I had the impression it was a little more generous there...

In the 20s and 30s apparently everyone was skint so for jacket making it meant no more material than was absolutely vital was used. So you get close fitting tight jackets. The Pioneer is 20s/30s inspired, and so no Edward, I would not describe any part of its fit as generous. I wanted one too remember, until I tried it on

Are you the same guy who is a "rep" of AL on eBay?If so, you should state that here. If I am wrong, apologies. I don't care much for undercover op's http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111056335529&globalID=EBAY-US

Yeah..I don't understand why they don't come out and say just who they are. This has happened this way several times now...until members finally figure out what is really going on. Just admit who you are..and who you represent.

Yes, there are three AL jackets on his/her eBay site. Impartial? * edit. Five jackets.

Well spotted! Not much gets past you mate :) I've nothing against jacket manufacturers, or their agents posting, but trying to operate under the radar is not cool!

One film officially made by Drifter Productions, Partners, a tv movie made in 2000 by John Travolta's little brother. A little bit of googling shows the guy behind the company also runs a pizza parlour, plus a bunch of other stuff. I suppose he's spreading his bets. [huh]

I would describe most of the AL designs as being generic rather than replicas of originals.

This is a 1930s style motorcycle jacket made of 'Norwegian' horse

WHOO I haven't noticed this one, looks absolutely gorgeous ! Very very desirable ! Does the back have a "confort pleat" in the middle ?

Maybe the aeromarine will have to wait till september
