Fair play to them for refining the pattern, but you'd think AL would be better waiting until they master a pattern, rather than rushing out an approximation of it and taking stick for it here. This is isn't the first time they've done this, the travesty of a Belstaff with colossal pockets didn't last long on the website either before it was replaced.

Whether you're an AL fan or not, you have to give them credit for fixing what some of the FL members thought needed tweaking and made a not quite right design better. I agree with HoosierD. about the pockets. Would be nice with some handwarmers, and for me a Half-Belt in back, and zip front. They just might make the mods you want for this Simmons shawl collar design if requested!

I think DD made his different using the complex button holes and black hide. Also, the nice linen lining. I mean, how different is a torso and two arms going to be between all these makers?
There are other reasons for picking one over another. I think DD's prices will be somewhere around Aero, but less than GW. To me, I think it's the most unique take yet...be it slight, it's there. :)

You're right, Paulway, but my point is: why rush it onto the market in first place and then have to re-do it later? Teething problems is one thing, getting a pattern demonstrably wrong is something else. I'm with you though on the hand warmers, would like to see somebody take that step, though from their website, I think AL have developed a full-blown patch pocket fetish, so they might take some persuading on that score... :D Cut-wise, I do like DD's version, but overall I'd like to see a zip and hand warmers.

Those button holes are really a nice touch. I do prefer the Aero and AL collar design over DD's though!

I wonder how long it'll take them to fix this one...

Where to start ?????

I sense DD took the comments and wanted it to look good in the "up" position. In which case, the smaller collar likely works better. When down, I see your point. Ill wait until I have it in my dirty hands...

The collar on DD's jacket appears understated and subtle in appearance. I am impressed with the artistic flair seen in the pictures with both DD's Hyklas and Aero's Aeromarine. I would love to view both up close and personal. :D

Just for the sake of completion.

Uh Craig, I meant the real jackets - Hyklas and Aeromarine - rather than just pictures. ;) :D

I know, :D but I thought it was just worth lining the three up so we could do an easy comparison. To me, this style needs a relatively light hide to get the drape right on it, otherwise the collar just looks too stiff.

All great looking jackets.:eusa_clap If you wanted any kind of modification done like handwarmer pockets or zip front I would think the AL version would be the best bet considering Aero does not want to do any major mods, although I did see a zip front Aeromarine on their Trainee made page. All beautiful jackets none the less!

Yep, that's a lovely one too. Is that GW? Beautiful looking hide. Just proves how elegant that collar can look when executed properly.
