Does the hat seem to run true to size. I have one on order from Everything Australian. Unfortunately my wait is three months because I requested a black ribbon on my medium grey hat. What color did you buy?
I would really like to order a campdraft but I'm holding off until I see how the stylemaster fits.

That is my question as well. Do Akubras run small or large? If I measure my head I'm a size 59 (23 1/4). But you put a 59 or 7 3/8 size hat on me and it is very very loose. I have to put paper in the sweatband and that doesn't always work...that's why I had to get rid of my Open Road.

I'd like to know whether to order a 58 or go with what the measuring tape says, 59.

Yes, sizing in the Stylemaster is true

I just received my Stylemaster in mid-gray. I wear a 58 or 59, too - (depending on the hat), so I ordered the larger size. The hat arrived fitting slightly loose, but from what others have said, I can expect the sweatband to gradually tighten down to a perfect fit. For now, I put short strips of felt behind the band. The color is a bit darker gray than I expected. I will post a photo when I have one.

By the way, the sweatband has the softest, most luxurious leather feel of any sweatband in any hat I have ever had - much nicer than any of my other three Akubras.

jecoe,
I can't wait to see your pictures since it's the same color I purchased. I wanted something darker than moonstone grey but didn't want black.

Panama_jack and Tracyam,
From what I can tell, Akubras seem to run a tiny bit larger. I'm generally pretty snug in a size 7, but the size 7 Stylemaster is just a tad bit loose. However, the foam padding that Hats Direct provides with each order allowed me to tighten it up just the perfect amount. I assume I'll remove the foam as the hat conforms to my head with wear.

I received a Fed IV standard the other day in my regular size (59), and I didn't need to use any strips. In fact with the strips it would have been too tight to put on my head. It felt fairly snug automatically, I was a bit worried that it would shrink but it hasn't, just conformed a little more to my head. So in my experience, which I realize is very different from others, the Akubra ran perfectly true to size.

Scion,
Thanks. I'm sure I'll be ok with my 7 1/2. The wait is killing me though. I still have about another month and a half to go.

Anyone know what the wait time for a Campdraft and Fed. IV from Hats Direct is?

My Campdraft shipped right away. They are very responsive to email. Send them a note and ask about the size and color you want.

No clue about the Fed IV, but I tried to order a Campdraft in Taupe Fawn, size 59. For those, the next available hats (as of a few weeks ago) was in January. Everything until then is already earmarked. Silverbelly size 59 was in stock, though. Email them and tell them what color and size you want. They should be able to let you know what their stock is like.

Ordered a 7 1/8 Acorn Fawn Stylemaster from Everything Australian this morning for, are you ready for this? U.S. $54.90 + cheapest (10-day) S & H $11.30 = $66.20 total! That's less than half what you'd pay for a similar fedora in the U.S.

At these prices, I was tempted to get several more Akubras from them, but I think that receiving a stack of hats all at the same time would diminish the excitement of each.

But, of course, a box of three or four Akubras is pretty darn exciting, so I might change my mind before this one ships!

Here is my new Akubra Stylemaster...my first Akubra. I definitely like it. The pics are a little dark, and the felt is slightly lighter than shown in the pics.

Scion, pardon my bad eyes, but what color is that? From the pics, I can't tell if it's mid grey or steel grey or a brownish color. I've been looking at the Stylemaster in the steel grey color from hatsdirect. I think EA has it listed as mid gray. Does anyone know if these are the same colors? Or are they different shades of grey made for different vendors? Thanks in advance for comments/answers.

And FYI, as of today, EA has the Stylemaster listed at $56.81 compared to hatdirect's price of $64.02. I haven't gone through the order process to determine what shipping is for each store, so I don't know the difference on shipping.

That's a good looking hat you've got there, btw.

Here you go, Rrog:

Here is a photo I just took of my new MID-GRAY Stylemaster under the color-corrected bulbs in my art studio. On my screen this is very close to the actual color of the hat. I'd describe it as a chameleon kind of gray -- leaning towards blue in daylight, but perhaps getting a warm brownish tint when seen indoors under incandescent lightbulbs.

As I said in a different thread here, the color is darker than I anticipated when I placed the order. I think this dark a gray in a hat presents a 'dressy' look that I generally try to avoid (since I rarely wear suits or jackets). But I'm going to live with the hat a while before I give up on it. What do you think?

jecoe, I think I like it... a lot. Hmmm, let me know if you decide you can't "live with it." I might be able to help you find it a new home, especially if your size is 58 cm! It really is a good color of grey. Thanks for the pic.
