Here's some pics I just took on my front porch of my Black Squatter I just got from David Morgan. The hat alone pic had the flash on so washed the color out but the noggin shot is without.

Correct, I purchased mine last summer from HatsDirect.

lol It must be friggin' bright there in Texas! The hats about the only thing I can make out in your noggin shot lol! Looks great, though; too bad it has to sit until winter [huh].

My porch faces west and it's after 5 pm and the sun bathes the front of the house at that time of the day :) It's around 90 degrees and up in the low 70% humidity level so the hat came out of the box, on my head and hand for pics and back into the box. It is NOT felt weather down here anymore for sure :)

That black Squatter looks awful familiar, Monbla. Mine was near identical when it was new. But since then I've given it a much different shape. I reblocked the crown and creased the brim so that it flares up on the sides. I like it this way...very "stockman".
Here's a bad picture of what I mean:

That's the only one I could find where the black wasn't totally washed out. I can post more if anyone wants to see them.

Here's the most recent pictures I could find of my other Akubras...

Here's my newest acquisition, a Snowy River. I got this hat used for $20. I've bonded with it very quickly.

After watching the movie and realizing that the stock version doesn't look much like Jim's hat at all, I reblocked it, re-creased the crown and reshaped the brim. I think it's closer now.

Not that screen accuracy matters - this is my personal hat more than anything else. But I liked the movie style so much more than that crummy block they ship with...I just had to emulate it.

I got this in an exchange with frussel. Size 63. The crown felt is the most moldable of any Akubra I've had (so far I've handled 8 different models). It forms dry easily into any shape and then pops back out into open crown without any sign of the creasing it had. The brim is quite a bit stiffer but with some working should form the way I want.

From what I've tried I think I'll leave the crease as it is now for awhile and once I get tired of it that way I'll go for a pork pie ala Oppenheimers hat (I've tried this and I like the way it looks with this hat).

Black might be a bit strong on a hat this large if you're going for anything other than a pure cowboy look. If you really want a large black hat I'd recommended looking at Resistol cowboy hats on ebay. You can get really nice ones in practically new condition for less than $50. I've got one that I've formed into a "the shadow" type hat that I use for rainy days.

Nice! I'll try to put up a couple shots of mine soon. I actually took some a couple days ago, but they turned out lousy so I'm going to try again.

Nice hat I might add.

So I got this hat I thought was an Akubra Slouch hat but it doesn't seem to meet the criteria I see in the on-line descriptions. The hat is Khaki - tan, not the greenish olive-drab I see in the photos. There is a Liner and the descriptions all say "un-lined." It is marked size 7 3/8 with no cm marking at all. BTW it has shrunk a bit and isn't a bad fit on my 7 3/16 LO head.

So have I got some kind of a fake? Or is this just some non-catalog version?

Couldn't get photos with it on my head, fortunate for you folks.

It really is this color.

With a lining that assures me it is an Akubra Imperial Quality

label.jpg

And the sweatband label which also assures me it is an Akubra.

I got one of those off ebay. It's stamped "Digger" and "Eddie Bauer" in the sweatband so I'm assuming they did a run for Eddie Bauer at one time
