Absolutely love that hat Univibe! Looks like it's gone in the drink a few times. I'm still trying to get a hat to look this lived in.

If you can bring yourself to do it, just beat on it! Wear it the rain. Jump in a river. Shove it in a back pack. Step on it a few times. (I'm not kidding. There was an "incident" that involved moonshine and me dancing and stomping on this hat.)

It kind of reminds me of the "Lawless" hat.

What goes on in Monteagle, stays in Monteagle...but lots of the Apple Jack did disappear in Monteagle...[huh]

I wasn't sure whether I'd taken too much height out of the crown, but I really like it.

Seems darker than I expected from Moonstone. But then, I'll know shortly. Mine should be here anytime...

Based on your second photo, I'd say both the hat and the crown height suit you rather well! :eusa_clap

Reading this thread stoked my interest in a campdraft now to decide which color and size. Currently torn between bluegrass green and silver belly. My head measures 22 7/8 so I recon a 59 will be about right

Tough color choice for true. It will be large right out of the box but will form to fit with creasing & wear, may need some sizing strips for a while.
To me, silver belly is the most versatile color & a staple for any lid rotation. The BGG may limit its noggin time depending on your wardrobe where the SB will go with most all color schemes...JMHO

I'm a dead on 24" & have always went with 61. Better a tad large than too tight right out of the box.

Yeah, we're enablers here. lol But I have to agree with gtdean that Silverbelly is probably the more versatile color for most people.

That sounds right to me, but I'm about as far from being an expert as you can get. I'd suggest you contact whichever vendor you're planning on purchasing your hat from (before you buy, that is), give them your head measurement, and ask for their size recommendation.

It was darker than I expected too, but it's a great colour and seems to change depending on the ambient light. The pics were taken in my, quite dark, hallway

Actually, that is exactly what I did. The Bluegrass get the most wear by far. Goes very well with bluejeans and black leather jackets.



Here is when I was shaping them. The MoonStone is overdue, but should be here any day.
