Akubra Campdraft

I would be in for a size 58 CD in Moonstone. Rare colour overall. Very few standard models produced by Akubra in that shade of grey(Stylemaster and maybe a couple of others in their fashion line). I would be very content to have it in the Akubra Imperial felt so if that makes it easier to swing some production count me in. DM has their Squatter exclusively offered in Moonstone, but I think only HD has a Fed IV Moonstone in Heritage quality felt.

Imperial might be an easier way to go and whoever sells them might feel less on the hook to try and move them at a lower price point.

I hope we can actually make a go of this.

I think since Akubra currently makes the Squatter in Moonstone for DM here in the US, and that hat is not all that different in size and blocking from the CD, it stands to reason that there would be blanks more available for a seperate run on CD's in the same felt level and they might be more receptive to this idea as they did for the other color run they made earlier. Of course it all depends on the QUANTITY that looks to be able to be sold

That's the kind of information I like to know, since I can't go to Australia. I would like to know the same kind of thing about fedoras in France and Italy. I don't wonder about the U.K., as some of the contributors here have said there is little fedora wearing there.

There are very few fedoras worn here in France. The last year or so, I've seen a significant increase in hats, mostly the low-crowned, Australian outback type of hat. Younger fellows wear short-brimmed cloth trilbies. I've also been noticing a lot of flat-caps lately. There are not may ball cap wearers. I think the unusually cold weather has made men want to cover their heads.

Interesting. I've never been to France, but I perceive it as a more formal dress type of place, so no ballcaps doesn't surprise me. A woman I know who went to France recently said she dressed up wherever she went, and never got any anti-American vibes. She said that the French people dislike many Americans visiting because they are slobs in T shirts and so on, and they hate that. I can understand that. That's why I was thinking fedoras might go over pretty well there. Every place has its own mind-set. Come to think of it, I'd like to know about Germany too. I wonder about Italy because it's the home of so many venerable fedora companies, but Americans seem to the main consumers of their output.

When I was in Italy over the summer, fedoras were not common, but they seemed pretty acceptable. Mine certainly never drew much attention. Well, no more attention than my height normally does, which is an awful lot, but I don't the the fedora added. The Italians are a pretty stylish people.

Interesting. Are fedoras like we are showing also stylish for some people over there, including 20s-40s types? I keep on wondering whether Americans are the principal ones resurrecting that style.

My dad wears a sand Cattleman. My best mate wears a CEO or a Territory depending on the weather. (Ive got a CEO too, its my bush hat) My cocky mate wears a squatter until it falls to pieces. My country music listening rodeo attending mate wears an Arena.

Everyone else wears a Cattleman. I wear a cattleman to mow the lawn or clean out the chook shed. (I get issued them for work so tend to think of them as "work hats" only)

Actually, we fedora wearers now all amount to eccentrics. I count myself as one. Given the prevailing non hat-wearing style for the past 50 years, hats are a mark of distinction (for the good or for the bad), and wearing one, you certainly establish a personal style more distinctively than most other clothing items you can find.

Whereas the wearer tends to look better in a hat as he ages, the reverse is true for the tattoo.
