The Big Wait

We'll see what happens. I just ordered one of their Stylemasters, which still shows Bluegrass green as an option, with a 3 month wait. If the can do it for one style, why not another?

I just recieved an email from EverythingAustralian informing me that

Unfortunately Akubra have now discontinued the Colours Black , Blue Grass Green and Mid Grey from the Campdraft style.
The Campdraft is now only available in the colours Mid Brown , Silver Belly and Taupe Fawn.

I replied and changed my order to Silverbelly. I wonder if I just ordered too late.

Email back from Everything Australian

Sam sent me an email saying he'd add my name to the list...and I also asked him to add my request for a heritage felt Camp Draft...We'll see what happens with that...[huh]

I received an email from Sam at www.everythingaustralian.com.au this morning and he said that if enough people would email him about the bluegrass green and the black Campdraft being discontinued, that he would start a petition and the folks at Akubra might change their mind about discontinuing these colors for the Campdraft.

I am sorry to hear that kabuto. I know many people here have Campdrafts on order due to the favorable exchange rate - myself included. I hope the whole batch isn't as sloppy.

I got my campdraft and unfortunately I have to agree with kabuto's thoughts. The ribbon is a bit sloppy, the flange isn't crisp and the wind trolly wasn't tied on right. But, I didn't pay much money for it and I got it as a knock-around hat. So I am happy with it. I was able to retie the wind trolly and readjust the ribbon.

I certainly enjoyed bashing it myself.

Bad news, good news

Bad news: I tried to order a Campdraft in Taupe Fawn, size 59, yesterday. This morning, I got an email from Hats Direct. They're out of stock in those. They expect a new shipment in a couple of weeks, but those are all earmarked for other customers (hopefully some of you Loungers are in that group). The next batch for which they can take an order will be January '09. The good news is that they still have size 59 Campdrafts in silverbelly.

The other bad news is that the price jumped again sometime between my order last night and this morning.

Ya know it had to happen with the onslaught of orders they have had. Good thing I ordered my 4 early.

If you have to wait til Jan. then maybe check everything australian and see if they are cheaper before you order. I went with them for 2 of mine because they charged my card right away even though the hats won't be in until Jan.

Yeah, it's still a bummer, though. Everything Australian is usually a little cheaper, but all of their Campdrafts are marked as having a 3 month wait. If I'm going to have to wait 3 months anyway, I might as well do it a little less expensively.

I think the 3 months wait disclaimer is, sometimes, just to cover their backside. I've heard, here before, that they often ship sooner than that but leave that to ensure they don't make delivery promises they can't keep.
