Finally! In fact it got here faster then my Fedora from hatsdirect. 7 days! Here it is:

Hand bashed by me. It was raining when I got it, so I charged out there and stood in it. That really loosened up the brim ribbon in the front. It's a big hat, but I really like the way it looks. I won't be waring it much for a few months, due to the heat, but I can't wait for fall.

Nice job on the bash. Is the color different from the rain or is there some other forces at hand? Either way, the hat looks good.

That's a great looking hat. It may be a large hat, but it fits you well.

Thanks for posting pictures...it's always nice to see hats with heads under them ;) . Great job on the bash.

:eek:fftopic: PS Where in West Michigan are you?

The Campdraft is a really nice hat. I have the same one, same color (tawny something?).

Fletch; I bought my C-Draft at the same time as my first Federation, and as I recall the Fed was stiffer and heavier out of the box. Both break in wonderfully, though. The Campdraft breaks in faster, I noticed... as you can see in Kyle's pictures. One rainy day is all it takes. :D You really want to soften up a Federation, wear it a snow storm... one of those wet snows that make great snowballs... and let the snow sit on it a while after you bring it inside.

Anyway, Great hat, Kyle! And great bashing.

Thanks for all the compliments on the bash fellas. It's a half tear drop, half c-crown. I have tried center dents, but they always end up as that. Meh, I like it just the way it is.

The brim was a bit stiffer then my Sydney. I think that has to do with the ribbon bound edge, but that's just a guess. I would say the felt is similar to my Sydney, not enough of a difference to note as far as thickness, but it feels a touch stiffer. The color is the taupe fawn. I'm really glad I went with the color I did. I was afraid it would be to light, and it is not. It's a great color. With the crown open, I would have to say that it's 6 in. All in all, I have very pleased with it. It will match my normal work wear (khaki's and collared shirt) much better then my med grey fedora.

I'm in the Cedar Springs Area in W-mich.

Thanks also for all the help you guys have provided in the research. I couldn't have found such a great hat with out all of you.

I can't tell you how happy I have been with both Akubra and Hatsdirect.com. HD is all around a good group. There were some issues with my order on their end, but they got in touch with me and we had it all sorted out in short order.

The crown on this hat is really nice and strait for a production hat.

Just my kind of hat!! From who (whom) did you order it, and how long did it take (you may have mentioned that already)?
Best wishes,
Chuck

That settles it, when the buying begins again, a Campdraft looks high on the list, maybe the top! That's how I want to look. Michiganders rule!
