Funny how different individual perceptions can be.
Collar style is period correct to the 40s, I guess the 70s designers lifted it from there:

there's not much you can do about it.
same thing happens with many 30s suits.
I grew up in the 1970's and stylistically, I haven't liked the look of any period I've lived in. But you can always find items to provide relief - Harris Tweed and leather jackets, particular versions of jeans or shirts. Even in the 1990's, a vile time sartorially, you could by-pass the look if you wanted to. Like many, I've never embraced the look of any era I've had to live in.
I have an inside tip: The guy in the 1970's Leisure Suit is none other than our well known FL Member Seb Lucas taken in 1970. :gossip: lol ound:
