Aero Sheene fan thread!

This Aero has a small neck opening and narrow shoulders but doesn’t exhibit the creases. It does feel like it’s hanging on my neck though. Luckily it’s a pretty light hide.

i think it's not the size of the neck hole, but the shape. my assumption is that there is not enough rounding at the back of the neck and that creates the tension. here my aeros and in comparison the 5* with the narrowest neck hole of all.

I am more concerned about people who iron a crease in their jeans. If a jacket is uncomfortable, then it should be sold. I don’t think this is an Aero specific issue and the notion that it is...is absolutely absurd. Some jackets crease like this. Some don’t. Why? Who cares.

I’m in the camp that believes the more creases the better. I did however sell an Aero CR a few years back because I found it uncomfortable pressing on the back of my neck. I remember a number of members told me at the time this could have been avoided by getting a CR with a BR collar. I believe @TooManyHatsOnlyOneHead is correct in saying that the CR collar is designed for the forward lean involved in riding a bike

I had this jacket since December & it gets more comfortable every time I wear it. The weight of the jacket distributes evenly across my shoulder & does not dig into my neck.

So I am wanting to purchase a Areo Sheene this year in FQHH or Steer. What do I need Request from Thurston Bros to avoid the pressure on the back of the neck? just wider shoulders ?

Wore this the other day. I know I've done my fair share of Aero bashing, but when they get it right, it sure looks nice. The star here is the brown fqhh cxl. Some wonky stitching made worse with contrast thread, but I'm less interested in that. Shoulder pads really helped redistribute the neck weight and tame some of the crease lines. Added hand warmer zips helped with the flaring out. Ideally I'd go up a half size if making a custom one, but so long as I can control the pasta, this is starting to get more wears.

Looks great. I have basically the same jacket, and it isn’t the most comfortable, but it’s getting better. It is definitely the prettiest jacket I’ve ever owned, and definitely the most complimented.

thanks, yeah, once the waxes warm up, it's pretty tame, but since it's got to be somewhat chilly to wear a jacket, I'm always stuck in this limbo kind of state. I'm hoping the CXL breaks down more to the level of my blue cafe racer. That one is super drapey and much more comfortable.

How long have you had it? I’ve got just over a year with mine and it should be a bit more broken in than it is, but it was also the start of this hobby/collection/addiction for me. I loved it so much that I acquired several others. Looking forward to spring weather to wear it more.

About a year and a half. It was my first "real" jacket purchase after finding these forums. Kind of went head first LOL. So because it was the first, it got quite a few wears before I accumulated way too many. I'd say it has about 100 wears on it, but more importantly, I really beat up on it by rolling it up into a log, pressing my knees into it, laying it flat and napping on top of it, balling it up into a block and using as a pillow, etc. etc. Getting it wet a few times really helped the most though tbh. Knowing now what I know, I'd do a few things different, especially the handwarmers, they need zippers or no pockets otherwise they flare out. Was a pain to add after the fact, and they're not quite right, but good enough. Sizing was always tight and I didn't know how much it would (or wouldn't) relax and all that. But I'm glad I stuck with this one. Like you said, it's the "best looking" as far as what you think about when you think about worn in leather. Can't wait to see what it looks like in 5+ years and hopefully I can keep the weight off LOL.

That’s funny, very similar circumstances! I’ve had Schotts before this, but this was the first I’ve spent much money on. I splurged as i had lost a bunch of weight. This was a nice reward for dropping the weight, as well as an incentive to keep it off.
Mine is definitely coming along, and I agree on getting it a little wet. Need to post some photos here soon.
