Aero Roughout Jerky Horsehide Type III, Size 42: "The Roughneck Brawler"

Does aero let you custom order the back length? Is it possible to get a size 42 with 25” length, or is it only the sleeve length that’s customizable?

I have changed the length of the sleeves and body on all Aeros, tapered the hem considerably, sometimes adjusted the shoulders or increased the front drop.
As long as it stays within reason and doesn't affect the pattern too much, Aero is open to it.

The way their pricing goes up the past years, I would expect as much as go the extra yard for the customer. They are a 1000 GBP a piece now, that‘s two Vansons or a fully customized Johnson Leather.

Cheers, Jersey Devil! I'm actually thinking about selling it, since while it's good as a 3 seasons, I realize now that for a 4 seasons, I need a jacket that's a bit longer...but when I ordered it, I ordered it to similar specs as was my old unfinished horse hide type III. We'll see!

I've also made up an improved version of my leather balm, that now includes cedar oil on top of the birch pitch and neatsfoot oil--it's quite something.

Howdy all,

So some months into fall/winter wear, I have some more pictures and thoughts. The main realisation is that for an all seasons bushcraft jacket, (1) I need it to be a longer--3-4 inches longer, so that it doesn't ride up when I'm working, so that my under-layers don't hang out, but not so long as to cover my knife etc; I call this the "knife length" of my jackets. (2) The button holes are too loose for me, I need tighter button holes for when I have multiple layers; and (3), the jerky-hide is OK, but it feels much lighter than the unfinished horse hide I had before, I'd like something heavier.

Only semi-in-the-wild shot I have, from a 153km march I did in the summer:

Any thoughts? Aero hasn't gotten back to me if they'd be willing to make a longer jacket for me, much less a rough-out unfinished horse hide, and I'm flirting in my mind with the idea of trying a Field Leathers Type III, since it's more "mobile friendly" and I could actually use the chest-pockets for a grease pencil, compass, whatever, when I'm about.

It's a funny thing, trying to get a leather jacket for field-use...I've even thought about getting Thedi to make a bush-craft Type II for me, but I'd like to hear from the wise folk on the forums, first.

They will definitely make you a longer jacket but I imagine would be uncomfortable to do so in this model which traditionally is a shorter length.

Are there any other Aero models you like which you would consider ordering in the roughout?
Also, Aero have certainly produced chest pockets, at least in the past, easily deep enough for a phone, as my 'old style' patrolman has very deep chest pockets. And I agree, they are definitely handy for a phone.
