Aero RAF Flying Jacket, Battle of Britain Model

Hi all, first post after many trawls of various posts.

I am wondering if anyone has the Aero RAF Flying Jacket, Battle of Britain Model?

I am interested in buying this jacket but I am looking for a well fitted version of the jacket, i.e. not super puffy, something that looks tapered, and lays at the belt-line. Maybe some of you seasoned pro's can advise if I can achieve such a look with this jacket and if possible I'd love to see some shots of how this jacket looks on.

I've emailed Aero and they don't have any further pictures to demonstrate the fit unfortunately so before I pull the trigger I want to get as much information/advice as I can.

Hi Spitfire, many thanks for that. Is your jacket the pre-war model? The quality looks amazing! Do you think the fit would be the same in the Battle of Britain model? From what I can see on the Aero website there is slight overall shape difference and a few minor differences.

Yes it is the pre-war model. As you can read, I gave it the soaking treatment twice in order to get it like that. The sheepskin tends to be very fluffy - almost like after using a hairdryer - when new. And the surface of the jacket was too much on the shiny side - to my liking. Now it has the right look and fit too (It did shrink just a little) I do not believe there is a great difference in shape and fit between the two models. Except what there obviously is. More pannels etc. You really should call Amanda - she is most helpfull and knows a lot about all the details. Hope you find what you are looking for.

just thought I'd add a wee update about this. I made an order a couple of weeks back for the jacket mentioned above. I spoke with Will on the phone and he seemed a nice guy.

I have also been corresponding with Amanda in regards to my measurements. So here's hoping all goes well and the jacket comes before Christmas....although it's going to be tight!

Oh, I'm sure but at least this way it will actually fit me (hopefully) and I can make my own history in it!

I'm not concerned with authenticity. I just want a really well fitting and practical jacket, so the nervous wait to see the outcome has commenced. eep:
