Er... I don't like it. The pockets, in particular the flaps, don't really match the period of the jacket. There needs to be scalloped flaps and I'm not talking about some dreadful skin disease :eeek:

I am interested in seeing this 'Heron-style' jacket - a couple of manufacturers appear to be making their own versions of this (including a forthcoming Bill Kelso), but I can't link to the website either.

Mark Fisher said he's working on one too, which really peaks my interest!

Isn't jacket one very similar to an Alexanders "Drifter" with buttons and no pocket ????

Of the three I like this the most .... but I'd want a zip and stud fasteners on the cuffs ( buttons suck big time IMHO) .... looks good without the pocket though :)

I'm interested in the 'Heron' influenced jackets, but personally not in the market as I've just sold my LVC steerhide Menlo Cossack on the Forum to replace it immediately with the 2008 washed goatskin version.
The two are superficially similar (i.e. the patterns are very similar), but the difference in weight/look of the hides gives them an entirely different character.
The LVC sizing is very confusing though. The steerhide jacket is marked 'Large' (shoulders 20", chest 24", plenty of room for layering); the goatskin jacket is marked 'XL' (shoulders 18", chest 23", layering not recommended). The latter is going to be an ideal summer jacket when even my ELC A-1 might feel too warm.
I'll post images, but the washed goatskin is the most incredible aged goat that I've ever seen - it looks identical to vintage goatskin that I've had on WW2 Perry 23377 A-2s. Moreover it's very supple.

After all that has gone on. After a whole frigging web site full of copies, are you now suggesting that that Aero are copying from Alexco?

I'm sorry, PL. That is SO beyond the pale. This saga really is plumbing previously uncharted depths.

Holly, given that Aero have come into an apparently massive stock increase very recently, can we expect to see some bargains on the sale page, and maybe a reduction in waiting times?

Well, we're still not at liberty to do anything with this returned stock, it's frozen for the time being. But, when we do get the all clear it'll definitely be up on our website as quickly as we can get it up. Lots more denim, and a mass of Aero jackets. When this happens it could be worth a trip to see us for anyone near enough... it'll take a long, long time to get through it all.

I would hope a reduction in waiting times could come soon, but orders are coming in faster than we can make them. That said we have increased our staff again, with more starting soon so fingers crossed...

Except it's made from lovely brown Horween FQHH and not from whatever the Drifter is made with.

Take a look at the 1940 Montgomery Ward catalogue and similar to see who is copying who.

Returned stock? Where did that come from?

I must not plan a trip to Gala before I pay off my credit card (repeat 500 times, or until it sinks in....). ;)

I seem to recall it's steer ( very similar to oilpull of old which Aero did) .... and very nice it is too ( as is Skips stuff very nice ........ very nice indeed ) Horween do make exceedingly good hide (horse and steer) and its quite unique ... but they are the masters at Shell Cordovan. Shoes made from their Shell Cordovan make all others ( including their jacket hides) look ordinary ... simply ordinary :)

It makes a factory visit even more tempting, what with that lot and all the new designs.

With that mountain of gear Aero must be wanting to flog it quick to get some cash in.

Well it appears that the shocking facts are slowly emerging, although not fast enough. I hope that resolution for Aero occurs sooner than later.
