Thanks for the comments guys, yeah, it's not cordovan, its brown fqhh, it does have purple look here in this pic, I guess the light or summit, but its dark milk chocolate brown.

Great jacket simonc - I think, for me the halfbelt on the back is unfortunately for me not suitable, but for men like you, it looks perfect.
I love the elegance dark brown or cordovan color - dark chocolate, hmmmmm - can't get enough. . . .

Sure - if your torso is quite short (like mine, I think....) the half belt divides the back for no reason and the back looks distinctly short and stocky.
Its just an optical illusion for most of us.
BUT: On the other hand a one-piece back stretches the impressive of a short torso . . . IMHO
Summary...a jacket model must fit the wearer and his physique.

Believe me, I needed a lot of time and money to realize what's best for me.
I was not born as a specialist and I wanted to have many jackets .... but ONLY a FEW fits me perfectly.

Simon, the overall effect of changing the Pioneer from zipper to buttons worked extemely well in this instance. In essence this is a new design since the pattern would have to be altered to allow overlap in the front from a zipper design to closure with buttons. In any case, the designer did a superb job of engineering a jacket that seems to fit you perfectly. :thumb:

Thanks chaps, I designed it myself and Aero were patient and supportive enough to work with me on it, faultless craftsmanship and service. Indeed, I have a bucket list of men's apparel I long for that no one is really making to my specs; heavy and well crafted, so I have begun to design my own things which I hope to share with you soon.

Windward, the hot showers softened the leather a lot, it got puffier and less cardboard-like. I didn't want to do it. But I have to thank M.M. and Craig for their encouragement on that. It's not everyday you sink a £750 jacket in hot water. But it really transformed it. I could easily see the super heavy steer-hide becoming tamed with this kind of treatment.

Simon, you hit a home run with what appears to be a one-of-a-kind jacket that is a combination of Pioneer, Maxwell, and Sunburst. All about a clean, understated look. :thumb:

SimonC, as you've given this pattern a lot of thought, do you think it could stand up to having a few more inches added to the length or would it mess things up? Fits you perfectly, btw, but I'd really like a jacket in the 28-30" range for length and the style you've got there is much more interesting than the Teamster or the Cheyenne...

Thanks guys, its nice to see the evolution of the leather. pipvh - I put this together as a short spring autumn jacket, I think personally, longer jackets are more suitable to winter to primarily cover your ass, but when the wind chill is above a reasonable figure length its largely unnecessary, for me. Not only functional for riding bikes I also think the shorter jacket gives a leaner look and is more flattering, but again this is all purely subjective.
