Aero 'Ice Hockey' jacket

Hi everyone! First time poster here, longtime reader
Aero seems to be reissuing early 90s 'Ice Hockey' jacket sometime soon, at least they have few of them up on the sales page. Since it's reissue of the old model, has anyone owned, seen or tried original one? I didn't really find any pics or anything about it. Also, does anyone know is there some history behind it? Why it's called ice hockey?

It was a super popular style of jacket worn by coaches and trainers and even players when not playing. From like the 30s through the 60s they were all over the place. The NHL even had branded ones. I’m not too familiar with the history of Aeros production of when they made them and why they decided to. But that’s where the name comes from I would have to believe.

Somebody over at Aero might be able to chime in on this (Holly and Denny both post here on occasion). All I know is what's on the site - that Aero made them in the 90s, and are looking at bringing them back. I quite like the look of them, fun ay of bringing in less conventional colours of leather. My understanding is that these are the Canadian equivalent of the US varsity jacket, pretty much... One think you can be sure of is that if Aero put it out, the design originates pre-1960, as these days they have a strict 1959 cut-off date on any style they produce.

Yip, spotted that one on there recently. I'd have been tempted had it been a few sizes bigger! I assume that's a 90s original; Aero currently have a size 40 pre-production sample in stock, unbadged:

I remember back in the 90s when I was an undergrad in Belfast we had a few Canadian students over on exchange and they had similar jackets - first time I'd seen something that was such a variation on the traditional varsity jacket.

Interesting how some North American sports have very strong, Celtic roots. Baseball in its modern hardball form (known, I believe, at the time as "Boston Ball") was first codified by an Irishman living in Boston, in and around the ACW.
