One last thought: eliminating the kidney panel and particularly eliminating the vertical center back seam might significantly change the dynamics of the close fit of the lower body. IMO the fitted look and feel of the cafe racer and board racer designs is what separates those designs from most of the others.

I eliminate the inner kidney panel, but kept the outer one. Do you think that will change the fit of the jacket?

And I know you own a beautiful Sheene sans kidney panel. Has it been an issue with your jacket?

I don't think eliminating the inner kidney will made any difference to the fit.

The jacket in the first post is very nice. For me, the fit is quite good even if the sleeves could be a little longer but I would be very happy to have this jacket at home.
