The leather jacket wars continue... I'm with Queen Amidala, I just don't know on which side to find her. I'm just in this for the looks, anyway, if in doubt, always be shallow. Justice will find its way...

The point I was making is that you and I don't have the facts so the best thing for us to do is to resist making ignorant judgements and deductions based on some of, as opposed to all of, the information. Does that seem sensible Griff?

So what are you saying? That we dont know for a fact that some customers have gotten jackets made of steerhide but have had a horsehidelabel? Or are you saying that no matter what a company does we should ignore it because we cant see every action that lead to the outcome? That seems insane to me. I tend to trust people/companies on what they do, not what they say.

Or are you saying that it is infact the current Aero crew that is lying about it all to make AL look bad?

I dont think so.
People have posted here that they have payed for horse and gotten steer - its a fact.

Lets take it one step at a time and just shout at what step is not sensible to you.
1. Fact is that steerhide have been passed of as horse.
2. Fact is that this makes me not 100% trust the people that did this - any problem so far?
3. Fact is that some of these people have opened up a new shop - I am not 100% in trust of their character...yet. This is based on them fooling customers, wich is a fact.
4. Fact is that a "new" crew is now working at Aero and have made no mistakes as of yet.

Now I tend to not trust people that sells me stuff that isnt what they say it is. Im not saying I cant ever trust AL, Im saying that as of now Im not comfortable with them. I am entitled to change my mind if and when it suits me based on circumstanses (for example AL does alot of good for a while, or Aero does alot of wrong for a while).

What I'm talking about here is the eBay "rep" using the Aero history as a selling point for their AL lineup. That, and the incredible similarity with the lineups.I also find so many new folks here overlooking the past with numerous issues to fly the flag of this new endeavor in a place that was filled with people who got taken. In more ways than one.And for personal taste, I've not seen any examples of anything I say "wow, I gotta have that". I've not commented on them as it's not appropriate - I generally don't post negative comments on jackets I don't like - I ignore them.In the end, I saw the original Aero company and lots of clients get the shaft. I also hear of the impending legal issues and think "do I want to do business there?". The answer is no. The deal sealer was the guy above posting as an "impartial haberdasher". If you got an AL jacket and like it, that's awesome. But I have to laugh a bunch of new folks dissing the experiences of the longer-term regulars that went through (or saw) all the drama of the last few years...

I wouldn't do business with Alexander Leathers either until their legal issues are sorted out, they reestablish a record of customer service, and they offer something intriguing since I'm already in the Aero camp and Alexander leathers doesn't offer anything substantially different (to my tastes). Alexander Leathers is clearly capable of making fantastic jackets and that's the only issue I had with your post. I don't begrudge anyone who's willing to order from them and at this point I think we can all agree "Fair Warning" has been communicated.

I may have missed some egregious shilling or subterfuge on Drifterproductions's part that may explain the hostility towards him so I apologize if there's some history I'm unaware of. He's reselling jackets so it seems like he could positively contribute to the outerwear threads so why not work towards that rather than ostracizing the guy. It's pretty clear he sells Alexander Leather's jackets so I agree he needs to dispel the "impartial haberdasher" myth if that's what he's tried to put out there. He's probably sold a half dozen Aero's I've noted, Lost Worlds, and several other makes. I'd welcome some comparisons from Drifter since he sees so many different jackets.

CR, yes, you missed some less than cool posts from Drifter early on, hence the fact they were removed early on from the Lounge. Tbh, and this is something i'd apply to any maker, if somebody came on here yakking about them the way he has, I wouldn't listen to a word they said. He ought to take/be given a vendor title and be done with it.
But you know, folks, as they say, will make hay while the sun shines, so it goes...

Griff, did you ever watch a murder mystery and it turned out that the guy you thought was guilty all along actually wasn't? The bones of it are that all the stuff you're claiming as fact could be explained in a million different ways, some innocent, some dastardly, some downright unexpected. That's the nature of life. .Me, I can see room for a lot of stuff to be explained and for a lot of stuff to have been misinterpreted and even misrepresented on these very pages. So am I now gonna speculate and post up some possibilities just to appease you? Of course I'm not! Were I to do so dumbtards on here would be all over me in a heartbeat misrepresenting my words and spinning them to fit their own agendas. Bottom line is if you don't have an imagination with which to think this through for yourself I can't help you.

To clarify once more, I am not pointing any fingers or saying that I know what happened. I don't. But I think I know enough to reserve my judgement and to avoid mugging myself off in public.

Be smart Griff. Less is more

Actually, I think when it comes to jackets, less is less. You're welcome to keep buying AL, though, Schitzo. Just one less person on a waiting list elsewhere.

Wasn't offering permission, just expressing my indifference, my dear. Help yourself: less is in this case is certainly more. :D

..... This site is moderated for agents within Aero anyways so you wont see this post for long.

Well, 4 days later and your post is still up !

In the past mild criticism of Aero did seem to be jumped on by the higher beings but I'm not sure that applies anymore ?

I agree with you Aero quality can sometimes be patchy. Some machinists are better than others.
On the other, I've seen Aero civilian jackets in dealer showrooms that were absolute perfection in terms of material construction and design.

I've seen jackets by many makers that are perfect, some not. I guess that's what happens when actual humans build them. The difference is how it's handled when an issue arises. That is what separates the money from the wallet here...

I agree with you that sometimes (often?) things are not what they seem. However, there has been plenty of time for anyone to step forward and shed some light on the situation.

It sounds to me like you are totally unaffected by whatever happens unless you have a video-confirmation from all parties and you just continue to go on with you business as if nothing happened because...yes.....we dont have all the info. Here is a newsflash for you - we might never get all the info!

Look, I agree with you that one shouldnt speculate, but Aero coming out with Horween giving us this news, then taking back jackets to remake and send out new ones.....this isnt speculating any more...it is happening! This is quite enough for me to start thinking where I will happily and trustfully put my next $1000.
Bye yes, if someone would shed light on the situation, my feelings could very well turn, I am an open guy, but I expect the same thing back, if If I smell something shady I will act and feel accordingly until someone proves me wrong.

Bottom line is if you don't have an imagination with which to think this through for yourself I can't help you.

Botomline is that I have thought it through and it didnt take very long to feel uneasy. I started looking at my old jackets that have mismatched panels and sending photos to Holly. We are both different, apparently you arent affected emotionally - I am.

To clarify once more, I am not pointing any fingers or saying that I know what happened. I don't. But I think I know enough to reserve my judgement and to avoid mugging myself off in public.

This sounds to me like if we take it down to specifics, you would happily buy a used Aero without even giving it a second of a doubt what hide it actually is made of? And you would also 100% trust people that seems like they did shady things in the past because you actually cant be sure?

You gotta have a limit dude, if we were to talk about sinking a million dollars into a restuarant that have had a bad reputation of pocketing investments and then the accused people just carried on their business I really dont think you would just carry on with the investment as if nothing happened becaue there is no proof. If you would, then I think you are the exception, if not, then we just have different limits to how much money we can spend without giving a f"#¤
