Every time I see this pic I am in awe and feel an urgent need to sell things in order to buy a CR next!

Definitely my most flattering jacket. Oh man is it tight on the shoulders though, wished it had another 0.5" for better mobility and comfort lol it's breaking in though so it's getting better

I believe anything below 800$ is not charged custom duty in US. I am not sure, but I believe Aero declares jacket price as item cost in customs form(customs demands CIF which includes jacket + Freight + insurance costs). Currently, a stock aero is around 600pounds which translates to US$793, so technically you may not be charged customs on a stock purchase. But all custom orders will exceed $800 and again not sure, but duties should be charged on the USD amount above $800, which should be minimal

Around $75 import duty paid through DHL according to one of our members here

Quick question, How can you get a jacket with no customs fees from the UK? I'm in the States and have been considering ordering one of his jackets but customs fees put me off, when I could just order an Aero direct with Thurston Bros and avoid extra charges.
Yeah i think i paid 100 bucks or something to DHL for my jackets direct from aero. Still was cheaper direct than through thurston.

It looks perfect!

Mind if I ask what the measurements are? I'm curious about the actual jacket minus body. It looks like you are running about 1" from chest to opening.

^^ definitely a perfect fit, a shirt only jacket for sure.

it's a slim 36 with measurements of 17" shoulder, 20" chest, 18" waist, 18.75 bottom hem, 23" back length.

Body measurements with shirt/jeans/belt 37" chest, 31 waist, 34 hip

That's plenty trim already, it will probably be too tight if you go any slimmer. The leather won't stretch out as much as cxl. Mine fits great aside from the shoulders being tight

Smaller guys have a leg up in the jacket game. So many used options in the 38-42 size range.
I’m with you on that man! I’m not quite as big as you but at 6’1” and 195 pounds I feel that I am just a bit too big for most of the used jackets that interest me.

Hard for little buggers like me too. It's really hard to get something off the rack. I'm like a 36-38 shoulder/chest, 36/34 waist/hip with desired short length and sleeves is a nightmare to find. Even have a hard time with Japanese makers as the jackets they make are either too tight in the chest or a touch too long for what I like.

If you size it right it doesn’t matter what size you are. Used jackets sure, maybe 38”-42” is easier as it’s most typical. But I’ve yet to see 1978 Arnold here griping about poor fits. It’s not that tough if you are honest about what you need and the corresponding measurements. If you have 52” chest and 28” waist you might be in for a rough road. Otherwise, it’s not that hard. It’s a process. Everybody goes through it.

It will be trim shirt only jacket if you go this route, I'd go +0.5" or 1" to layer with a light sweater for it to be more functional
hmmm, surprised by some of these numbers.
Greg is working on something for me now. Hopefully I'll have it before Christmas. Same cafe racer:

For me:

Chest 42 (relaxed) 43.25 (expanded) is translating to 22.625 or 45.25 so + 2-3 inches depending on expnded or relaxed
Mid Waist (one side) 19.25 is translating to 19.75 so + 1 inches
Bottom hem (one side) 19.75 is translating to 20.125 + .75 inches

I've gone over the measurements with him several times. We referenced 3 jackets (a couple Aeros so he's really familiar with those) that fit me well. The only thing we're playing with is the shoulder which I typically used to go too big, so he's going to bring in to 18.5 instead of usual 19. Shouldn't affect comfort since it's .25 inch each side, but will look better as the line hits the sleeve right.

But there's no way +5 on waist is giving you that slim fit. Accounting for leather, that's still a good 2 inches on each side of gap.

Good luck with your project with him. What color did you go with? Can't wait to see what you get from him.

Didn't mean to confuse you. I meant to say that if I were to add that measurement (0.5-1") to the actual jacket I already have then that would be more versatile for layering as I can only wear a shirt with mine.

But the waist now is actually 18" across, it was actually smaller before (shade under 17.75" if I remember correctly) so it most likely stretched out with wear. Most of the excess leather on mine is at the back specifically the lower back portion.

I'm getting the black teacore with brass hardware and a copper color lining. Can't wait.

I guess what I'm confused about is you added 5 inches to your waist body measurement in the jacket size. I'm adding 1 inch. And for the hip/bottom hem, I'm adding like .75 inch and you added 3.5?

Your numbers seem really big (or maybe mine are way off, but like I said, I'm using pretty much the same numbers from my Aero Cafe Racer and Aero Sheene, which is basically CR with collar, so I'm pretty confident about them). Wondering if there's something I'm missing here?

Okaaaay copper lining? Very interesting! Didn't know he has that now? Super cool indeed.

My measurement was based off of a type 3 denim jacket that fit the best. I don't know how it is but I know if the measurement across the waist is any smaller then that will be too uncomfortable for me already. I can probably reduce the bottom hem more to give it less of a flare but man that 1" allowance is mighty slim.

Maybe request a fit jacket? Or maybe let's ask @MrProper and @Marc mndt what they did with their torso measurements.

he's going to source the copper for me, going to be a surprise.

I'll double check with him, but all my jackets and even the 5 star I built from scratch, are only 1 maybe 1.5 inches (total measurement, not just one side) bigger on waist (like belly button area lets say) against my actual body measurement. And the bottom hem or hip I guess, is 1 inch tops, again, full circle measurement.

If you went 5 inches over your body measurement and it's that snug, I'm wondering what's causing that. How off do you think the shoulders are? That might create a narrowing effect if you were way off, but I don't think .25 inch or so is going to make that much difference. How baggy is it in the back because the front looks very snug. Sorry, not trying to harp or anything, just curious.

Damn you guys are lucky. I easily pay 30% duties on everything above €22 when I buy something from outside of the European union.

I basically told Greg I want 18 shoulder 22 ptp 19.5 bottom hem. Simply based on experience. But that's pretty tight considering my chest measures 43'.
Depending on the style of the jacket, I choose ptp between 22' and 23'. 22' will only allow for a t-shirt. 23' allows for a sweater. I personally think the cr style should be worn skin tight, exactly like @Jin431 wears his. This is how I wear mine.

My FL jacket has the exact same shoulder and p2p as the above cr but the bottom hem is more narrow.

I want to be able to wear my next FL jacket with a sweater so I'm going to ask for 18.5 shoulder 22.5 p2p.

The Thedi I bought (and sold) this week had a 19' shoulder 23' p2p 21' bottom hem. Which was too wide for my taste. I'm wearing it with a thick sweater.

So I basically know my wiggle room which is between the cr and the Thedi.
