Anyone out there own an Aero in the Battered Tan HH with feedback on how it ages / develops compared to say FQHH or CXL Steer? Pics would also be great! I've seen photos of new jackets and also have a cutting from Aero, but theres no substitute for owner feedback. Thinking of a Teamster in this hide or Brown CXL Steer. Decisions, decisions...

Yup, I have a cafe racer jacket in it. It's a great hide- mid-weight and the colour of dried tobacco. Here are some pics:

Thanks Zebedee. Would you say the this hide darkens over time / instead of fading? After messing around with my cutting from Aero, I think it darkens as it absorbs skin oils / dirt etc.

Red Fox Steer sounds interesting but the "red" scares me off, more of a tobacco man here.

It lightens where the sun hits it (across the back and shoulders) and darkens a little with oils (around the neck). It does have some naturally far darker areas of hide, which can look a bit oily. The Red Fox is a caramel colour and I reckon it would really suit a Teamster. The worry that I'd have with battered tan with a Teamster is that, if you don't like its lack of uniformity in colouration, there's a hell of a lot of a Teamster; the Red Fox steer will also come to look weathered and personalised over time. I think battered tan suits smaller jackets (such as the cafe racer) to a tee, but I don't know about longer ones (I gave a lot of thought to a Veste de Rallye in it before deciding against it)- the Red Fox is a safer bet (and you'd look like Redfoot from 'The Usual Suspects).

If you look at the area on the front panel 'under' the elbow in front of the pocket opening... Photo on 11-02-2016 at 13.50 #2.jpg

...you can see what I mean. That area was like that from day one, and is almost bluish (it's odd). Enough of those areas on a Teamster's surfaces might put me off. Worf had a Barnstormer made out of battered tan- he'd be a great source of info on what the hide looks like on larger jackets.

This is an example of the variation in colour:

The top bit is from the back/shoulders and the lower bit is from the kidney area- both are external areas.

Many thanks! And I can now see what you mean about the potential effect on a longer style coat. I'm also adding a little length to the teamster so there would definitely be a lot of noticeable variation. My sample cutting of battered tan actually evened out color-wise after I got it wet, then air dried. Guess there's always the CXL Steer in Brown which hasn't failed me before.
