That's a really awesome jacket! You don't see double breasted leather jackets very often, but I always feel like there should be more. This is a fine example.

They seemed to be everywhere for a while when the Dr Who series got rebooted. The main character wore a very similar style.

That's a good point. I rarely wear my jackets closed. It's often too warm to do so.

Looks like the older version doesn't have a back seam running up the middle, just a yoke.

No Seb it was a special request, I asked if it was possible, they said yes but only if they found a really large skin, and there was a bit of a wait.
At the time it was a toss up, Aero's Barnstormer of Eastmans WWI long coat. I went with the Barnstormer as it looked to hang better than Eastmans so Aero's it was. Another long time owned, 18 years approx.

How's the mobility in the barnstormer? I notice it has no gussets or action back, so I wonder if it restricts movement, or if the lighter weight leather may help some.

It's not fitted like a half-belt, so with the belt on there's enough play in the back for mobility. I suspect the mid-weight leather helps as the fqhh barnstormers are big beasts.
