lol lol Reminds me of Forrest and Bubba sittin' in the jungle in 'Nam. "Hey, Forrest, you lean against my back and I'll lean against your back, then we don't gotta get wet!"
And to keep it on topic you can wear your AB in light rain, hard rain, sideways rain and even rain that comes from the bottom up!lol

If I'm not mistaken "Fedora" is his screen name here as well. Been a while since he posted, though.

Cheers,
Tom

PS Thanks for the Fedora Chronicles link. I'd not come across that forum yet.

Okay, everyone holster your weapons.

I think Steve's frustration with the disinformation spread by some hatters about the KOTCS hat is understandable. I've not read through the linked thread in its entirety, but it's often easy for things to come through harshly in Internet discussions.

His Southern hospitality doesn't seem to successfully make the transition to written form!

(That whole train wreak of a thread reminds me of Henry Kissenger's quote, "University politics are vicious precisely because the stakes are so small.")

Small stakes? Maybe it is inconsequential to you but I daresay not to Steve and Marc. I mean this is their livliehood and it really is their shot. The hatters in LA will continue to make hats. Great for them. But unless someone makes another Indy movie or unless a director wants an Indy style hat, this deal and the sales for years to come from the movie will be how they continue to make a living.

Personally I had no problem at all with the way Steve said what he said on that thread. If it was me I would not have been so kind to the dolt. The guy obviously had been from one site to another trying to stir up the poo.

The vast majority of people who read what Steve says, and I have read on IG many things he has said on politics and other matters to which I disagreed, will think he had every right to stand up when his reputation is at stake. I know I have been attacked publicly in my profession and had no problem being an attack dog when striking back.

We southerners indeed put all our cards on the table when need be and have no problem telling it like it is, even if it disturbs the sensibilities of others who would choose to cower in the face of a possible offense to another.

There's nothing to be gained by a continued analysis of a thread on another forum.

If anyone wants to add anything about the hats that Steve and Marc make that would be great.

My AB should be here next week (fingers crossed)!

That's great Alan. Good thing you got that order in early. They will be busy and more so for the foreseeable future.

I had hoped to get an order in for a grey hat from Steve, but I wasn't able to until recently and now he is so busy I might just get something else and wait a while on Steve.

I made my order for a gray in late February. I figured I'd get another order in before the price jump hits in May, plus to beat the (even greater) rush of orders then. It's not like I need another hat, anyway, so waiting is fine. That said, I'm really looking forward to getting them. The only problem is it's almost summer so I won't wear it too much until fall.

I think the new offerings from Camptown would be a good option, though, since he'll be using the same block (same Winchester felt, too, I'd assume). And then there's the AB factory hat that really does seem like an exciting enterprise.

Yes, this is my first AB. It's been on order since June.

RBH does have one with another on the way, I'm pretty sure.

I ordered my AB before Steve got the contract for IJ4, but he had to put my order on hold to do the movie hats. I've since received my hat, and I waited over a year to get it. I have to say, it was well worth the wait. It is outstanding. I'm looking forward to hiking the canyons this summer with my family. My AB will be perched atop my noggin'. The again for the hunting seasons this fall...

Alan's got it 100% right. Steve has exhausted himself trying to correct the misconceptions and misrepresentations over the last year. He and several others with first hand knowledge of the truth. Frankly, it seems they've all had it with being nice, and I don't blame them. Most especially Steve. He's even fighting off people who claim to be authorized AB dealers now! Like any other gentleman, there comes a point when Steve can't turn the other cheek anymore, and must be blunt... even if it stings.

Jimmy, are you getting an Indy or another style? Marc's Aviator model looks nice. I've heard nothing but great things about Marc's hats, but the exchange rate is so brutal right now I just can't pull the trigger.

I'm getting an Indy, done on a Crystal Skull block, open crown...;)

Ordered mine at the very end of July, so it's been a bit of a wait -- but I'm sure it will be well worth it!

Hello everyone,

A freelance writer and fedora lover, I am new to this forum and this is my first post.

For more on the Adventurebilt story and Steve and Marc's involvement with "Crystal Skull," please read the article I wrote for the May issue of Men's Vogue, which is on the newstands now (look for a red sportscar on the cover).

I'm hoping this featurette gives more exposure to a superlative product and the fine gentlemen who produce it.

Regards,

Michael
