Rolled brim day

How about the first Friday of each month ... we all agree to wear either a homburg or a derby?

Do you think the country would notice?

The first opportunity would be Feb. 5 and let's say you can wear them to work if that is OK, or at least put one on and head out in the evening ... even if it's only out to the grocer or to pick up a pizza!

Whaddaya think?[huh]

I love this hat, but alas, it's a 7 not a 7 1/4 as the ebay listing implied... so it's in the classifieds if anyone is interested...

Here's the Adam Triport - Executive Quality I got a little while ago.

It's interesting that the logo on the sweatband is the same as the liner logo that followed the one on this hat. Must have started using the new sweatband logo before the new liner came in (using up stock?).

That's a nice looking hat, Bill. I love that particular width of ribbon, which seems to find its way onto a fair share of Adams.

I have two of the Executive Quality Triports, and the color of the binding on each one is a different color than the crown ribbon. I had previously thought that all Triports might share that characteristic, but it looks as if the binding and ribbon on yours are the same color, yes?

Nice lid. ;)

Cheers,
JtL

Yes, on both my Triports the ribbon is the same colour.

Adam Capri

I just posted about my recent Adam wins in the New Hat thread and wanted to post more detailed shots over here. I'll take them one at a time, in order of acquisition.

First is this Adam Capri, 7 3/8 in Chrome - it's kind of beat, all the stiffness has gone out of the felt and it has flecks of green paint or ink on it. It will make a good weekend errand hat if I can get it cleaned up a bit.

I really hope this ribbon can be salvaged - these Adam ribbon treatments are great.

Adam Romabout

This was the second of my three new (to me, anyway) Adams, a Romabout 7 1/4 in gray:

There's that pesky purplish iridescent shimmer from the sunlight again...

The ribbon is a bit dingy - I hope it cleans up, another fabulous treatment.

The only major problem with this hat is the verdigris from the reed - it's managed to seep through the felt :(

I'm hoping some naptha or alcohol and some sponge work will take care of it - if anyone can offer any tips on this problem I'd love to hear 'em.

Pacesetter

The last one is this Pacesetter 7 1/4 in chrome, in excellent condition - I think I got my $42 bucks worth:

Another great ribbon treatment:

Try a good soak in naptha -- with some gentle scrubbing. I got most (but not all) of the green stain out of a Champ with that treatment.

Very nice Salty.

As requested, the Capri is early 50's (probably 50-52), the Romabout late 40's the Pacesetter pretty much dead on 53 or there about.

Thank you, Billy. The Romabout is going into the naptha bath this weekend. Let's hope that green gunk goes away.

Adam Milan straw

The sweatband is stamped Genuine Bedford, whatever that means. I don't usually go for stingy brims but I like this one. According to the tag, the model is Milan CD and the color is Pewter. The tag is perforated for removal after purchase, but the original owner wrote his name on it and left it in - thanks, Mr. Huffman. It also has a little Adam pin. I'm thinking '60s/'70s? Not sure how long Adam was around.

I was listening to Radio Classics (XM164) today and the sponsor of a show called the "Strange Dr. Weird" was Adam Hats. They even had a bit of an ad at the beginning & end of the radio show. I thought it was pretty neat & just had to share.

Cheers!

Scroll to the bottom of this site for a rundown on Adam Hats' radio sponsorship history, and a particularly mouth-watering photo of a display window.

Thanks for that one Salty. The episode was even listed there. 'The Summoning of Chandor'. Too cool! :eusa_clap

Cheers!
