Hi guys,

This A2 bomber jacket belonged to my uncle Casimir "Charlie" Klujsza, a lieutenant/bombardier/navigator in the 340th BG and the 487th Bomb Squadron aka "The Dogface Squadron"
He flew some very important missions in B25 Tuff Stuff and Rum Dum and had actually been shot down at one point over water.

More information can be seen/read here: http://57thbombwing.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=37914

The leather is not rotted however the bottom portion of the left sleeve is detached from the torso. The back is in good condition and there is no artwork.
My question is, in its current condition, what is this jacket worth? I've seen similar jackets sell anywhere from a couple hundred to upwards of $6,000 and I am very curious as to its value.
Any help you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

Hi There,

You have one very nice A-2 there. Putting a price on family history is very difficult to do. You can have the jacket professionally cleaned(if it needs it) and have the sleeve reattached plus the cuffs fixed/replaced. Then if you really wanted to sell it, judging by the condition you are looking at around $1000-$1500 range. This is just my guess from what I have seen on ebay. If it were me, I would hang onto it for dear life.

I think the $1000-$1500 price range is a fair one for this Star Sportswear A2. The size is important too. Larger ones tend to fetch more.

This is your FAMILY HISTORY !!

Lol...seriously, If I was lucky enough to have a piece like that handed down to me I could never sell it.

Some things just are'nt for sale. IMHO, this is one of them.

to me NO amount of $$$ could replace it OR what it represents.

Just my humble thoughts.
