A REAL Fedora Lounge?

I had a thought: what if someone opened a bar or restaurant based off of this forum? It could be a place for all us vintage junkies to hang out, wear our outfits, have a few drinks a few laughs. Boy, that would be swell! Could it be done? Has it ever been thought of? Also, where would it be? We have alot of members from all over the country but where do most of them reside? LA area I'd assume? Think it be interesting to hear more imput, maybe make this a reality? =D

That's a fun idea. I'd like to see it decorated with dark wood, granite tile, and ceiling fans, with a band stand, a dance floor, a bar and a dining room. The waiters would wear white shirts and ties; the waitresses would something similar but more feminine. I don't think a dress code for the customers should be too strict since some clothes aren't conducive to lind hopping. But I think a collared shirt, no knits, no shorts and no sandals code for the gents would probably suffice.

It would be interesting to see were everyone lives. They linked to some web map to track the traveling hat, maybe you could add a map like that to this thread.

And I think the bar should look like this, all deco and gleaming. It would probably be hard to get a consensus on the look, just like we can't agree on brims, lapels, shoes ect.

would be getting customers to wear the period threads
to match the lounge look. Chances of that happening

Love the concept. My commuting costs might be a bit high though! Maybe we could allow a teeny bit of the modern world in and have a live link exclusively for FL members, so those of us a few miles away could get involved.

That's funny, I live in Houston but have never heard of it. But it's way out, I live right down town and it's 20 miles from me according to Google. There are too many cool places around here for me to drive and hour just for a name. Does MK had this name copyrighted?

What's interesting about that photo I posted is that it's from a vintage book I have called "Interior and Exterior Lighting" published in 1941. And according to the caption it's a "modern transportation ticket office...waiting room". It's not even a bar, but it sure would make a swell one!

Zegaccly (for Asterix fans out there)! But where in Scotland would I put it? In the barn comes to mind, but perhaps somewhere more commutable? Glasgow and Edinburgh are so passe but probably easiest for most people. Perhaps Stirling. Hmmmmmm

lounge a LARGE porch extension so to speak.

Maybe if it was more of a Private Members club than a open restaurant it may get round the unperiod clothes problem?

Now, perhaps one in London? A lot of oak pannelling, parquet floors with the odd persian rug thrown on it, large seascapes adorning the wall - a more British 1930's private club feel than Art Deco would be, although the only membership requirement would be taste in clothes!

Studio 44/Deco 44

Hi Quigley,

With the diversity of your town, Frederick
a concept like this could fit right in.

Also a Johnny Rockets (Retro Diner Chain)
could easily be renamed Fedora Loungette
with some changes pass for late 1940's early
1950's place.

Studio 44 could also offer art, photography (hint!!!)
besides food in period atmosphere

I'm not so hot on the idea of requiring dress codes. [huh] Wouldn't it be better if we had a winder range of people? And hey, maybe the vintage dress would catch on? People from miles around would come to show off their stuff!
