Just picked up this pistol and found out it was built in 1928, the same year my Dad was born,so we took a couple of pictures. He couldn't resist hamming it up though.

And yeah, he is the real thing, combat decorations and all.

Unloaded for the pics. Yup, I grew up on the south side of Chicago and the neighborhood dirtbags were all scared of him. Kept me on the straight and narrow too!

And if anyone thinks a punk is going to try to walk into his line of fire they must be goofy. The AARP doesn't believe senior citizens should own firearms. They still proport the good old "give in, get beaten and robbed and hope you survive" syndrome.

ridiculous...i remember a COPS episode where the police showed up to a scene with a 70-something year old man standing over a young punk...he told the cops the guy tried to mug him and since he used to be a boxer he laid the guy out and kept him down until they showed up...

:eek:fftopic: I'm sorry but I think everyone who is comfortable and can be responsible should own a firearm.
I think crime would go down if the bad guys thought there was a good chance of getting shot.
It may not be a popular opinion but we all know gun control laws only affect law abiding citizens. Criminals don't care what laws they break and have no problems getting guns.

Go Grandpa!!! That's a great pic!

I want a two-shot

Derringer that will fit in the stocking top.
I only expect to ever have to use it in a close up situation anyway!

"Of course I shot him, Your Honor - he was a beast!"

Ms. Sara, you might look at Bond Arms or American Derringer's lines.
http://www.bondarms.com/
http://www.amderringer.com/

Not sure if either has anything on the California DOJ "Approved List"... (if it's not on the list at http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/ , it's probably not legal to buy in CA except from a person-to-person "private sale") and, based on what I've heard, I wouldn't go holding my breath waiting for a carry-permit application to be approved if I was you.

Carrying info can be found at http://www.handgunlaw.us .

Another note, if you're at that close range, you're at bloodborne-pathogen range, gambling that Mr. Critter doesn't have some vile communicable disease.

Anyway, hope this gives you a start.

I find guns as interesting as most people who post on this thread. My brother has about 40 guns of various sorts, and there are some pretty cool ones in his collection. ( I had BEAR Stroganoff last year! Woo hoo!) But I'm also very sympathetic to people who are totally freaked out by the very idea of a gun. It's been the accepted tacit agreement on this thread not to get into any pro or anti gun polemics at all. OK, folks?

A couple years ago I saw a snub nosed revolver with an unusually long cylinder and inquired about what round it took. The guy told me it could use a .45 long colt or a .410 shot gun shell  . I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't shown up in some movie.
