Fraud!!!

Hey everybody,

I am new to this forum and registered just to inform readers about Marks recent practise of FRAUD.
I am aware that the business relationship with AERO Leather Scotland has come to an end and that may or may not be the fault of Mark. It is not up to me to decide that, but since I am personally affected by Marks practice I feel I must inform fellow AERO fans of what is happening here. On a sidenote, I read about it by mere coincidence, not because Mark informed me about it.
I have ordered my jacket with Mark back in September 2011 through ebay and he estimated 2-4 moths delivery time. Since then I have inquired several times with Mark and he told me that he does not receive updates, just delivery dates. I sat patient until I saw the post on the AERO website.

I have tried contacting Mark since then, but his ebay account has been deleted, phone disconnected. I am well outside Paypals 45 day limit and have been put in touch with other customers that have been tricked by Mark through Holly and Ken. Luckily, most of them have been covered by Paypals buyer protection. I also learned that my order had never been placed with AERO.

To sum it up, I have paid USD 950,- up front, waited nearly 8 months only to find out that not only will I never receive my jacket through Mark, but he does not even contact me to refund my money! Instead, he went incommunicado, that constitutes fraud.
If any of you happens to be in touch with him please convey this message. I expect him to return my money that I have paid him because he seemed an honest guy with a good reputation.

Thank you all for your support, I hope this will be solved soon.

PS: If anyone needs proof feel free to contact me or AERO anytime.

Hello batou;

Welcome to the Forum!

There are a lot of guys here that feel your pain........it's a real travesty. On the bright side, I'm sure you have read the success stories of loungers who have received their jackets or were given a refund.
Never give up; keep swingin' the hammer and hopefully you will get some relief.

Best regards,
coffee

Batou, sadly you are amongst a large group of people who fell victim to this whole debacle. Have you read this thread? It doesn't seem like any money will be forthcoming from Mark, if you flick back through you'll get some tips on how others have gotten their hard earned back, even if outside the PayPal window (which most are due to the nature of custom jackets).
Good luck with it.

A bit off the subject here...I was wondering what led folks, especially those in Europe, to order through Mark at Aero USA rather than directly through Aero Scotland?

Are you sure someone in Europe did? I did not read that, but might have missed something?

That said, I have always wondered why there was such an extreme spread in delivery times as reported here on the site... I never waited more than 10 weeks for any of my four Aeros ordered directly from Amanda, (also known as the queen of customer service).

My experience with Aero Scotland is generally quoted between 10-14 weeks...and they deliver no later than 16 weeks out.
That's one reason after my first order through Mark (which went fine) I switched to ordering directly through Aero Scotland. Kept reading about folks with LOOOOONG wait times when they ordered through Aero USA...even though quoted just a couple of months.
Glad now I've gone directly through Aero Scotland on all subsequent orders.

I could never see the advantage of ordering from Mark.
The cost ends up the same (he did't eat the duty fees or the shipping charge...just passed them on to the buyers.) Insinuated a middle man between the buyer and the manufacturer...one more link in the chain of miscommunication. Couldn't get up to date information about how an order was coming/updated delivery estimate. Reports of very long delays in receiving jackets.
Just never made much sense to me. Did I miss something?

Here on TFL, Aero is discussed quite a bit, though I'd never heard of Aero until finding this forum. Maybe people found "Mark's" jackets through an ebay search and never thought to order directly (or even knew you could) through Aero Scotland

Luckily Mark was a dork bag and after dealing with him I searched out Aero directly. Just got lucky : )

There was once a time when it could be cheaper to order through Aero USA due to an EBay cashback program. For me, it was all about price. Mark had such a good reputation that it was easy to trust him, despite the long lead times.

Yes, I was one of those guys as well. A new Aero Highwayman shipped to your door (including customs fees) for $440? Can't beat that price anywhere. I got my jacket from Aero after about six months of waiting, so no harm done.

Yeah, I was someone who had never heard of Aero, saw the beautiful jackets on Mark's ebay site, and just ordered from him, thinking that was the path of least resistance. Fortunately for me, that was before things went sour, and I received my jacket after about nine months of waiting. I almost ordered from him again, a move that probably would have cost me as it has others, but procrastination saved me. At the end of March I ordered my second Aero from Scotland (dealt with Amanda, who was wonderful, and it seems all the reports in this thread concur on that point). Now I'm waiting for a HH Teamster and confident it will arrive in a reasonable time frame.

Hi Again , in a post earlier i expressed my frustration and money loosing experience with Mark the former Aero USA ( no more now. ) Anyway
When i talked to Aero direct in Scotland about that , They helped me out excellent , and i have had a great experience getting a Jacked from them direct. I got 2 more on order good honest treatment good communication to say the least etc etc. When it comes to there former USA guy oh well that is a sad story . But if you want an Aero Jacket . Buy direct from them and you are in good hand as far as i know. The Highwaymen i got is a Great Jacket. All the best Andreas

Addressing the PayPal thread. I recommend forcing all PayPal transactions through a credit card, not via direct withdrawal from your bank account, which PayPal pushes. In the event of fraud, your credit card company should be able to refund, even if PayPal will not.

Good advice. This is what I always do when paying through PayPal.

It defaults to using your bank account but I see zero reason to do so and always switch it to my CC. There's no benefit to me to use my bank account and the above is one good reason that I've kept in mind.

PayPal Problems

Well the latest update is not what I was hoping to report.
It seems that after some initial cooperation and understanding PayPal has again denied my claim for restitution.
It was left off that the would give Aero USA the opportunity to respond to the claim by a date certain and then determine my status.
That happened, Aero USA didn't respond and then they just now denied my claim outright once again due to exceeding their standard coverage policy.
The phone calls begin again I'm afraid...............joy

Sorry to hear - same here with my claim and the USPS. My wife and I literally have spent at least 30 hours on the phone with no less than 20 people in this debacle. It's sad, and I wrote one nice little letter today to the USPS Postal Inspector. It makes me ill, and frankly, I see why the USPS is going under. They're incompetent to say the least. I wish I had recorded all the conversations we've had. It's pathetic. So no, I DO NOT WANT the US GOV'T involved in my healthcare! Sorry Mr. P - didn't meant o jump on your post. But I feel ya...

Mark Moye has been the target of a lot of anger for his treatment of customers over the past year or two as his business apparently tanked. Still, some of us remember dealing with a decent person, leaving us scratching our heads. I ran across this story about fraud, ethical reasoning and business decision making that may answer some lingering questions about the last days of AeroUSA. It's an NPR story and you may or may not want to read the whole thing depending on your level of interest in psychological explanations of "bad" behavior. We'll probably never know the whole story on AeroUSA, but this, at least for me, points to some possible answers.
