Oh, okay. Rap today (as well as modern R&B) needs a renaissance. Its all crap. If youre gonna listen to any rap it has to be the 'vintage' stuff from 1978-1987.

Yeah, I've noticed that. A lot of kids in my school try to act like they're all thugs from the south side. In reality, they're the rich suburban white kids (i.e. they think that portage park is the south side which, for those who don't live in Chicago is the south side of the north side...if that makes sense. But that's not even considered midtown area). Anywho, they listen to the dirtiest music ever. The music itself has a nice beat to it. But the lyrics, they're so dirty. I can't believe that people actually listen to that stuff. [huh]

As for my list, I can't really give one. I've set it upon myself to listen to every track I have, and I have Windows Media Player (which for some reason can tell me what I listen to at night on weekends, but not my 25 most played.)

Tango Project's cut of "Por Una Cabeza"--the one from Scent of A Woman and True Lies--the latter made me want to learn tango

The instrumental-only cut of Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better"
Eric Serra: "That's What Keeps You Alone"--yeah, I know GoldenEye was a poor Bond movie with a crappy soundtrack that's the butt of industry jokes to this day, but this piece is the diamond buried in the fertilizer-heap, trust me.
John Barry: "Wine With Stacy" (A View To A Kill)--yes, I'm a Bond junkie (pre-Brosnan); Connery was the better action guy, but Moore had comparatively better romantic moments--not to mention generally more attractive ladies, but that's off-topic.

Need to find the CD and re-rip for my "working mix":
Kenny Loggins: "Danger Zone" ( only good CRANKED to jet-engine levels*, and I gotta find a good F-14 sim to fly while listening to it in the off-hours again...)

*Yes, I'm the guy who always says "that rock stuff is death on your ears", and prefers quiet stuff generally.** But this isn't a piece for quiet moments, it's for accompanying things like screaming engines (ahhh, happiness), or other situations where I need a supercharge from my adrenal glands.

**Not that I'm unwilling to endure it for Miss Right, just means working a compromise out (or acceptance of me carrying my range earplugs to filter the volume down into my "comfort zone") so we go to a symphony concert every so often or I get some quiet time otherwise... isn't "give-and-take" what relationships are generally supposed to be about? Ahh, the pain in the neck of enhanced senses...

My quick disclaimers:

I mostly listen to my iPod, not iTunes directly, and I think the play count syncing is messed up. Also, my "most played" is 13 times, and at least one song on the list - while I like it - is probably there because for some reason, it's always the first song in one of my smart lists. The rest gets properly randomized, but it always appears first.

Also, when I listen to my iPod, I'm almost always listening to my "never played" list, which never seems to run out. I guess I'm loading music as fast as I get around to listening to it.

Be that as it may, it looks like I've listened to a few Beatles albums the most.

Actually, recent gaming has gone to "symphony orchestra" scores for some titles. I think the Prague or Budapest Philharmonic did a lot of the Hitman series...

Mere iPod? Wimp. I drag a 20-lb. laptop everywhere I go. Yes, my 100GB hard-drive spoils me for music-storage: 31 CD's (16 007 soundtracks and 9 Star Wars series alone) completely ripped to MP3, plus stuff copied from program folders (the end cinematic score from Freelancer ain't too bad). I try to avoid playing the "Hell March" from Red Alert in public; while it's good butt-kickin' tunes, it ain't exactly civilian friendly, not to mention my German's extremely rusty... Then again, I'm also a hardcore "road warrior" who needed a high-end machine and paid the serious $$$ for it--I actually got a smaller laptop free along with this monster.

While I like everything on my 25 most listened list, it doesn't seem representative of my selections. Here's a different view - I took everything I have rated five stars, and did a count of how many songs by that group (or collection album) have been so rated.

I have many, many more rated 4 stars of course, and Classical is totally un-represtend here - I use 1 star rating specifically to indicate Classical or other specialty categories that I don't listen to on random (like Xmas music).
