1950's Stetson Open Road Restored/Modified

I bought this several months ago from a fellow lounger. I was pondering on buying a black fedora when this one showed up in another thread about a restoration and was priced at $35.00. I thought this must be a sign so I snatched it up. The sweat band was shot and the liner somewhat disshoveled, but the felt still looked great. I had the hat drop shipped to Art and had him do his "magic". He cleaned and blocked the hat, put in a new sweat band, and was able to straiten out and save the original liner. As usual I told Art to pick the color for the ribbon and as usual it looks great. Just wanted to show it off a little:D .

I did choose to use a wider ribbon, no offence to the Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon, but I just like the wider ones better.

That hat has some really nice dimensions. How wide is the brim? And the crown?

And the crown/brim-height ratio? I digress, I should probably go to sleep now. Great hat, though!

Sweeeeeeet. That looks great.

A couple of questions. I hav read that a hat can be made a little bigger if you are replacing the sweatband and ribbon. True? Do you know?

Also, how much did it set you back? If for any reason it can not be discussed, I understand.

Thanks for all the kind compliments, I was really priveledged to come up with this hat in my size and for less than $150.00.

The crown is 5 1/2" and the brim is 2 7/8".

Aslo Art only does repair work for his VS Custom hat customers, a group I am very happy to be a part of.

Gee whiz, Undertaker, you've just triggered something in my mind...

I've never thought about putting a wide ribbon on an OR before. Fantastic.

Nice job, and nice hat!

Dean, you continue to be the man!!!

After you, R! You'll always be my inspiration. You should see my BCF mod project for Bud-n-Texas. I think you'd like it, I hope he will. But it's a secret so keep it...wait for it...under your hat.;)
