Is a bullfrog shoe's welt watertight?

If it helps, seals were primarily hunted on land in the rookeries, not harpooned in the water.

I could see these [sealskin shoes] just barely as brogans, but as a town last dressy shoe you can't even shine?

But you can shine them. I did so after taking those photos. The shoes took a shine just fine.

This is a never-worn pair of 1930s wingtip dress shoes made of sealskin. Pretty rare ...

The shoes' appearance is not exactly my cup of tea either.... but I just love the graphics on the tag!

Yes. My guess would be one big bullfrog per shoo. lol l actually like the frog leather, they'd look awesome after wearing them for a few years.

Nowadays sealskin is mostly used with the fur left on. You can get arctic native items like mukluks. It's also a favorite material for the traditional Scottish sporran.

Bullfrog

Wikipedia's entry on the bullfrog says he can grow to 6" in length and 1 1/2 lbs. Seems like you could make a pair of shoes out of 4 frogs. Who wants to go giggin'?

I think you could use any big toad or frog and call it "bull frog". As suggested, the cane toads are the size of a dinner plate but don't sound quite so nice for footwear.

The day that someone figures out how to keep shoe polish out of such tiny medallion holes, I will celebrate him or her in song.
