Is a bullfrog shoe's welt watertight? :D

If it helps, seals were primarily hunted on land in the rookeries, not harpooned in the water.

How many bullfrogs have to go into one shoe?

Can't answer that for sure. Here is a good picture of Bullfrog leather:

Forgot to put these in the "Chevalier's Latest Vintage Finds" thread, so here goes.

This is a never-worn pair of 1930s wingtip dress shoes made of sealskin. Pretty rare ...

The shoes' appearance is not exactly my cup of tea either.... but I just love the graphics on the tag!

Finally a use for Aussie cane toads?

I love the sealskin but the bullfrog tops that!

I can hear the bullfrogs calling me dudh dudh...

What with Credence Clearwater Revival planning a reunion/revival we better get those shoes on - any discount at EGs for bulk purchases?

Depending on the breed, they can get pretty big.

Yes. My guess would be one big bullfrog per shoo. lol l actually like the frog leather, they'd look awesome after wearing them for a few years.

What brand are the Sealskin babies?

The look is growing on me, Marc. Maybe if you show a pic of them in their shiney state...at your convenience of course, I know you're Not Posting lately. ;)

Nowadays sealskin is mostly used with the fur left on. You can get arctic native items like mukluks. It's also a favorite material for the traditional Scottish sporran.

Yes, would love to see a picture of them polished.

Wikipedia's entry on the bullfrog says he can grow to 6" in length and 1 1/2 lbs. Seems like you could make a pair of shoes out of 4 frogs. Who wants to go giggin'? :D

I think you could use any big toad or frog and call it "bull frog". As suggested, the cane toads are the size of a dinner plate but don't sound quite so nice for footwear.

I can't tell much of a difference, except that the toe medallion disappeared.

The day that someone figures out how to keep shoe polish out of such tiny medallion holes, I will celebrate him or her in song.

Here are before and after pictures, seen together. The difference, though small, is detectable.
