A fairly recent addition: a Champ "Stratoliner" clone. In a nice rich taupe, 5 1/2" open crown, 2 5/8" brim. VERY nice thin felt on this one. Thin roan sweat (did not want to peak around too much).
EDIT: I just realized it has an un-reeded sweat. No wonder it is so comfortable to wear!;)
Different processes entirely, felted in sheets then formed for what ever shape desired. It seems I posted a vintage book from the 40's around here from a hatter that supplied wool (and fur) capes for hats and showed their wool processes. As an aside the wool far outsold the fur. Still true...

So then you have the information......why were you still asking about dating it then. Unless the sweat is dated (as Stetson has done at different times) you are never going to get an exact year......just an approximate give or take of five or ten years.
