I’ve had original service issue MA-1’s / N-2B’s etc and found any of the earlier ones with heavy insulation too much for anything other than the coldest of UK winter days. The more modern lighter weight stuff gets the action.
Got two good to go: USA Alpha version in black with faux fur, looks good & lightweight. D J Manufacturing Corp service issued for actual cold weather should it happen in the S.West UK
Had issues with an ELC Capeskin in ‘butterscotch’ A-1 that is a stain magnet, tried leather specialists and all sorts to remove various marks / stains with little success. Gave up in the end and now just enjoy the jacket.
Have a few pairs of high rise trews but like lots of others find with a belt they gravitate to the same point as lower fitters. Braces / suspenders allow them to remain where they were intended to be.
The only 5* jacket that worked was when I sent them a ‘Trucker’ to clone in leather. The other two where measurements were given were a disaster. The numbers weren’t the same on what was received and therefore didn’t fit, one was so poorly made it went in the bin (got a full refund though) the...
I’m usually to be found with old denim and Eastmans leather jackets. Neighbours from a religious sect found out I don’t rent my house and commented that this surprised them…that’s coming from folk wearing cheap polyester suits
Thinned mine down to the regular wearers, nearly all Eastman leathers aside from a Brooks & a 5*. Sold on all the nearly rans to fund the keepers. Not including my nylon jacket experiences here which are many…
Low temperatures in the UK at present, warm when the sun is out but as soon as it clouds over Winter coats go back on. Lots of people are also turning their home heating on at times..very unseasonal..had our summer 8th and 9th of May
It can be quite a drab world around my parts..folk wandering around in sportswear & not doing any sport, white commercial vans lining the kerb sides..charity shops full of cheap modern throw away clothing. And then you have people interested in a brighter more technicolour world & having fun...
Being a 46/48 chest dependant it’s difficult to find original vintage clothing in my size so I use the likes of SJC Cathcart, Pike Brothers and Eastman Leather Clothing. I do have an original 60’s Cafe Racer that fits. Old watches thankfully do fit. I’ve always liked well designed quality...
Once used to hang out in an Irish Pub in a big industrial town, pub was a haunt of punks as we were called back in the day. Early one evening I was having a cheeky beer or five with my mate, both sporting black leather bike jackets, torn Levi’s and spiked hair. A couple of suits came in & I...
Got refused entry to a pub once for wearing a leather biker jacket & spiky hair cut. Refused a hotel room too for the same offence :-) A-2 & no hair these days..no problem
