I usually wear all my ties but I think I might just leave this one as a museum piece.

Just noticed the original price tag on the tie above. Isn't it about time we brought back the ten cent necktie?

It's been forever since I've posted here. Vintage ties seem to have dried up in my neck of the woods. So I was excited to find this new old stock 30's tie from my former employer of 20+ years. They were having a 5 bucks a bag sale at the thrift store so I was able to toss it on top of all the...

    Vintage roadside

Amazingly enough, given Los Angeles' history of destroying its past, this place still exists at 6421 Whittier Blvd, East LA. You can get your hair done here but you'd probably be hard pressed to find a tamale these days.

Gorgeous looking instrument! Hard to believe you only do this for therapy and fun. I'm sure you could make a business out of it if you wanted.

    Vintage roadside

What is amazing is that this place still stands and can be seen on Google Street View at 75 Wheelers Church Rd., Cedars Grove, North Carolina.

Very nice! I'd have a hard time resisting those if they showed up at my thrift store.

I like that brown woven a lot. Of the batch that come closest to my taste. People tend to gravitate toward liking certain eras of ties and each era has its traits but as a rule when most people talk about vintage ties they are talking about the ties of the 40s and early 50s, what some people...

    Vintage neon signs

I wish modern signage were half as cool as this. Nothing better than working action neon.

That's a beauty. I fell for a similar western themed tie recently.

Nice! I remember those from the tourist shops when I was living in Arizona. I'd say late 50s/early 60s is about right.

The House is a Museum ...

Simply stunning. I would love to spin some of my 78s in that room.

Here's one that compelled me to buy it. I paid a bit more than my usual $3 limit but it still was about the price of a boring Walmart tie so I had to have it. I worked for JCPenney for 25 years so always happy to acquire a new Towncraft.

Thanks. When you're as cheap as I am (I refuse to pay more than $3 a tie) it takes a while to amass a collection like that.

Here's a few recent finds. The striped one is a Ernst, been looking for awhile for one of those. The wide red, white, & blue 40s tie is a Fashion Craft and the navy blue one has lost its label. By coincidence just a few days after finding the navy blue and the Ernst I found tie clips that go...

Had another good weekend at the local yard sales. I found this complete set of MacIntosh Matson Lines menu covers for 50 cents. I was quite amazed when I googled them after bringing them home and found that a complete set goes for $500 to $1,000 depending on condition. This morning I framed them...

Here's a couple finds from last Saturday. One dollar each. I hope I do as well when I go out tomorrow. A 60s vintage Swagerty Kook-A-Lā-Le Uke. It was designed so you could plunge that long neck into the sand when you want to go out for a surf session. Some really old aviator sunglasses. The...
