I'm in the midst of converting a Stetson Muleskinner into a fedora. As Bart's photo attests, you can steam the dickens out of the heavy felt and reshape the brim but, once it drys, there is no felt flop. Whatever shape you have is there to stay.
As Kabuto has written, a heavy western-weight...
Thanks for all the positive comments, gentlemen.
The felt color of the Campdraft in the photos is Silverbelly. The photos were taken outside on a bright, sunny day and the colors are accurate. The OR Twenty-five has a very slight grey hue when side-by-side with the Campdraft.
I rebashed...
Torp, I agree with Carlisle Blues. That is one very sleek Borso homburg. It's neat to see how a long center dent and long side dents can transform a round profile. You're looking very dapper as always.
Carouselvic, That looks like a terrific hat. It would be interesting to see the rest of his outfit. You may not have the hat but you have a wonderful picture of your dad wearing it. :)
Tone, You are correct. I posted the pictures solely in response to your question regarding comparing the Campdraft to the vintage Open Road. I'm glad you like it. I do as well. ;) :)
Did someone on the FL win both auctions for TWA pins on ebay today?

In the What Hat Are You Wearing Today? thread, Tone asked,
regarding my Open Road Twenty-five.
Here are some pictures for comparison. The OR is the hat on the right.
gtdean48, Have fun with that bash. The OR in my post is a 4X that had the liner glued in (thus the staining seen in the interior shot). Here's a Montana Peak that I'm still working on. This ones a 3X.
I'd like to have more old OR's to work on. It's a versatile hat.
Pablo, Nice job on that bash. In the western vernacular, that is known an an Oreanna or "two dents and a mule kick".
The hat worn by Daniel Day Lewis in the fil There Will Be Blood appears to be bashed like this.
In the early part of the 20th century, that, as well as the Montana Peak...
It must be the medication
And I completely missed the chart! :o
Excuse me while I go clean-up one post and delete another. Then I'll shoot the dog. Aaaarrrgh! [huh]
