Hello TFL,
I’ve recently become intrigued with obtaining a shawl collar sweater (jacket?) of sorts after seeing this one on a window display at a vintage shop in San Francisco. I was wondering if anyone knew of any brands / shops that would have something similar (exact color aka oxblood etc)...
I pop into the thrift and vintage stores on Haight street here in SF a few times a week during lunch. It’s fun to see some of the more interesting leathers for sale
I had no idea! That’s very good to know, especially the concept of “menu costs”. The leather certainly feels nice, albeit “stiff” in some parts, even after almost 2 decades of wear…which might lend to the possibility of a cheaper leather. But hey; I’m not complaining!
Greatly appreciate this well thought out and layered reply!
I have actually been thinking quite a bit about the overall experience of buying a leather jacket (it’s funny to think how niche this is-I am sure 90 percent of people out there would think I am crazy for putting this much thought...
Thank you so much for the reply and for the clarification about the sourcing and development of RW jackets. That all seems top notch and it is reassuring that Leilah has pretty much everything under her control!

And just for fun, here is one of my first purchased new leather jackets when I was 18 ha. Saved up 300 bucks for it in 2006! Obviously haven’t worn it in years….
Hey all,
So I've been having wonderful communication with Leilah about finding the best sized Stockman for myself (which actually might be a 34!) It has been a wonderful experience and I think I may be sold- the ~600 USD doesn't seem to much, but money is tight in my life so everything counts...
That I did! In conversation with her now and she seems more than happy to help.
I’m debating if I go forward with a custom jacket, as the preset xs / 36 seems to run much larger than the jackets in 36 I have at home.
Money is tight right now, but ~200 dollars more for something that would...
Thank you for the fast reply! I am located in San Francisco, California, USA, so hopefully there shouldn’t be any issues?
Good to know about the manufacturing. I am generally hesitant about imported products, but the overwhelming majority of positive reviews on this thread is easing my concerns...
